Nail fungal infections can pose several risks to the body, including:
❗️Nail deformation and damage: Fungal infections can cause nails to become deformed, discolored, thickened, or brittle, and may even lead to nail loss.
❗️Pain and discomfort: Infected nails can cause pain, itching, burning, or discomfort, affecting daily activities and mobility.
❗️Spread of infection: Without prompt treatment, nail fungal infections can spread to other nails, the skin of the feet, and even other parts of the body, increasing the extent and severity of the infection.
❗️Reduced quality of life: Due to pain, discomfort, and changes in nail appearance, nail fungal infections can reduce a patient's quality of life, affecting mood and self-esteem.
❗️Increased risk of other infections: Damaged nails and surrounding skin can serve as entry points for other bacterial or fungal infections, increasing the risk of additional infections.
❗️Risk for specific populations: Older adults, immunocompromised individuals, diabetes patients, and other individuals with compromised health conditions are at higher risk for nail fungal infections and may experience more severe complications.
