From humble beginnings in Brownsville, Texas… to helping change lives across the Rio Grande Valley. 💙

Griselda Alaniz’s story is one of hard work, resilience, faith, and purpose.

Raised in a hardworking RGV family connected to the legacy of the original Alaniz Tortilla Factory founded by her grandparents, she grew up learning the values of perseverance, responsibility, and serving others. Those same values would later shape the foundation of her life and career.

As the oldest daughter in her family, responsibility came early. Life was not always easy, but through every challenge came strength, compassion, and determination.

Though proud of her Brownsville roots, Griselda built her adult life in Los Fresnos, where she slowly turned a dream into reality a vision centered around helping people heal.

Through years of sacrifice, education, and dedication, she became:

But her greatest accomplishment has never been the titles behind her name…

It has been the lives she has helped change.

Today, as Clinical Director and Owner of Empowered Counseling Services PLLC, Griselda leads a growing organization rooted in compassion, healing, and community impact. She has supervised and mentored more than 15 counseling interns and now oversees a team of 22 staff members and interns serving the Rio Grande Valley from Empowered’s nearly 4,000 sq ft facility in Los Fresnos.

Now, Empowered begins a new chapter with the opening of its Substance Abuse Treatment Facility.

This is more than growth.
This is about HOPE.

Hope for individuals battling addiction.
Hope for families searching for healing.
Hope for second chances, recovery, accountability, and rebuilding lives.

For Griselda, this moment represents years of sacrifice, prayer, hard work, and believing in a purpose bigger than herself.

From a young girl in Brownsville…
to a counselor, mentor, leader, and business owner helping others find their path forward…

Her story is proof that purpose can grow from humble beginnings. 💙

And through Empowered’s new outpatient treatment program, that purpose will continue changing lives throughout the Rio Grande Valley for years to come.

We are proud to officially welcome Carmen Madrid and Araceli Morales to the Empowered Counseling Services family!

Both Carmen and Araceli began their journey with us as interns through Texas Southmost College, where they demonstrated dedication, professionalism, compassion, and a true passion for helping others. Through their hard work and commitment, they have now transitioned into official team members as Administrative Assistants at Empowered Counseling Services.

Watching students grow into professionals and become part of our organization is something we truly value. Empowered believes in creating opportunities, mentoring future professionals, and building a strong team that serves our community with heart and purpose.
