CBT, or Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy has experienced a split reputation throughout the years. While remaining one of the most well-studied & researched therapeutic interventions, CBT also has a reputation for being a less holistic therapeutic approach that breaks an individual down into a part, rather than approaching the individual as a whole organism.
Over time, cognitive therapy has begun to rectify this issue by adding on behavioral interventions, essentially merging cognitive and behavioral therapy to become CBT. And for the most part, this has been a useful merger, expanding the realm of the mind into the actions of the person.
However, CBT is once again expanding in a new direction in 2025. Over the past few years, CBT has taken a turn toward embracing humanistic principles and theory, emerging into the realm of holistic psychology in ways that are simply unexpected.
Our new blog explores this new expansion in 2025. I'd love it if you gave it a read. As a CBT therapist who applies humanistic theory, I'm really enjoying this shift toward this merger with holistic therapy.
