January is National Self-Care Month
Self-care is more than rest and routines — it’s about caring for every part of your well-being, including your hearing.
Untreated hearing loss is closely linked to mental health challenges, feelings of loneliness, and cognitive decline. When we struggle to hear, we often withdraw from conversations and the connections that keep us engaged and fulfilled.
As we begin a new year, consider making hearing health part of your self-care plan. Prioritizing your hearing supports clearer communication, stronger relationships, and a healthier mind. Come visit us to have your hearing checked.
Because taking care of yourself means staying connected to the world around you.

👂 Hearing Aid Tip with Dr. Janna Spada 👂
In this video, Dr. Janna Spada walks you through how to change a standard button battery in a hearing aid — a quick and important step in everyday hearing aid care.
Not all hearing aids are rechargeable! If your device uses standard batteries, they need to be replaced regularly, unlike rechargeable hearing aids, which are charged daily and don’t use removable batteries. Knowing the difference helps keep your hearing aids working properly and avoids unnecessary frustration.
This video is part of our How-To: Choice Audiology series, where we share simple, helpful tips to support your hearing health. More videos coming soon! 👏
Did you know that in the U.S., about 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children are born with a detectable level of hearing loss in one or both ears?
That might not sound like a lot — but when you consider how many babies are born every year, it adds up to thousands of children who could benefit from early care and support. Early detection is especially important: as the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) notes, “infants who are born deaf or hard-of-hearing have a better chance of learning language if the hearing loss is identified immediately after birth.”
Let’s spread awareness and support hearing checks for newborns.

A new year is a great reminder to check in on your hearing. Just like vision and dental exams, an annual hearing check helps you stay aware of changes and protect your hearing long term.
Making hearing health part of your yearly routine can help you hear your best all year long.

Did you know diabetes can also impact your hearing health?
Studies show people with diabetes are twice as likely to experience hearing loss. High blood sugar levels can damage the tiny blood vessels and nerves in the inner ear, reducing your ability to hear clearly over time.
The good news? Regular hearing checkups can help detect early changes and protect your hearing for the long run.
This month, take charge of your total health — schedule both your annual health screening and your hearing evaluation.
