Postpartum OCD is real—and it doesn’t make you a bad parent.

Intrusive thoughts after having a baby can feel terrifying, especially when they go against everything you value. You might find yourself replaying “what if” scenarios or feeling an intense need to check, clean, or control things to keep your baby safe.

Here’s the truth:
Those thoughts are a symptom, not a reflection of who you are.

Postpartum OCD often shows up as:
• Unwanted, distressing thoughts about harm coming to your baby
• Compulsions like repeated checking, washing, or seeking reassurance
• Overwhelming guilt or fear of being alone with your child

You are not alone, and you are not beyond help. Treatment works. Support matters.

Talking about it breaks the shame.

If this resonates, reach out—to a therapist, a doctor, or someone you trust. Healing is possible, and you deserve to feel safe in your own mind while caring for your baby.

"Heavy work" is another great way to help regulate a child's nervous system 💪🏻

"Heavy work" is another great way to help regulate a child's nervous system 💪🏻

One of the biggest misconceptions about chores is that they’re just about getting things done.

They’re not.

Chores are one of the earliest ways children learn responsibility, independence, and how to contribute to a shared space. They build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a sense of capability over time. When children are included in everyday tasks, they begin to see themselves as part of the family, not just someone being taken care of, but someone who also takes care.

At the same time, it’s important to remember that skills develop gradually. A child’s ability to follow through, stay focused, and complete tasks is directly connected to their age, development, and nervous system regulation. What feels “simple” to us may still be a learning process for them.

This is why age-appropriate expectations matter. When we meet children where they are, instead of expecting too much too soon, we create opportunities for success instead of frustration.

And just as important, these are suggestions, not rules. Every child is different. Their temperament, maturity, and interests will shape what they’re ready for. Some will take on responsibilities earlier, others will need more time and support, and both are completely normal.

The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is gradually building skills, confidence, and a sense of contribution over time.

✨ Save this as a guide you can come back to, and adjust based on what works best for your child.

Spring is here 🌸

The first day of spring is a gentle reminder that growth doesn’t have to be rushed. Just like the seasons shift in their own time, healing and change unfold at a pace that’s right for you.

If this season feels hopeful, hold onto that.
If it feels heavy, that’s okay too, new beginnings can be tender.

This is your invitation to:
• Step outside for a few deep breaths
• Notice small moments of warmth and light
• Give yourself permission to start fresh—however that looks for you

You don’t have to bloom all at once 🌱

If you’re ready to take the next step in your mental health journey, we’re here to support you.

🧘‍♀️❤️

Sometimes the simplest practices can have the biggest impact.

Placing your hand on your heart while taking slow, deep breaths can calm your nervous system, release oxytocin (the love hormone), and signal to your brain that you are safe and supported.

Try this the next time you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed — it only takes a minute, and the effects can be profound.

The Bible is a great resource for those who are suffering. Connecting scripture in counseling has a powerful effect. It reminds us of His faithfulness in every storm, even when those around us have left. The Lord is faithful, His character never changes.

Every season of life has ups and downs, positive and negative situations. On top of that, there are spiritual powers in this world that are trying to get us to lose hope.

In the midst of difficult seasons, or even persecution, it can be easy to forget that God is still present with us. He does not abandon us in the midst of suffering. Rather, He strengthens us and walks with us through the pain.

The church in Thessalonica experienced a very similar situation. As they were praying for the gospel to spread across their region, they encountered suffering and opposition. Paul writes to the members of these churches to not only encourage them, but to remind them of God’s character.

"But the Lord is faithful, he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one."
2 Thessalonians 3:3

Paul tells them first that the Lord is faithful. This means that God doesn’t change—He is consistent in His character. If He was good and merciful yesterday, He will be good and merciful again today.

It also means that He fulfills His promises. God is faithful to do what He says He is going to do. He is not like a human who changes his mind when things get difficult.

Second, Paul tells these believers that God will strengthen them and protect them in the midst of what they’re experiencing. Paul does not tell them they will never experience evil, but rather—that God will be with them in the midst of it.

Because God never changes, He is able to strengthen and protect us through every experience in life. So take some time to thank God for His strength and faithfulness. Ask Him to help you, and to give you confidence in His power.

Don't let today's warm weather fool you!

As the weather warms up and the days get longer, it can feel like everything should automatically feel better. But mental health doesn’t follow the seasons. ☀️🌷

Spring and summer can still bring stress, transitions, and emotional challenges. Continuing therapy during these months helps maintain progress, build resilience, and stay supported.

Your mental health matters year-round. Healing doesn’t have a season.
