Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in both men and women, but it’s also one of the most preventable when caught early. Health experts recommend starting screening at age 45 for those at average risk, and even earlier for people with certain risk factors.
The good news? A colonoscopy typically takes about 30 minutes and can detect cancer early — or even prevent it by removing polyps before they become cancerous.
Colorectal cancer cases are rising among younger adults, making awareness and screening more important than ever. If you’re 45 or older, or have a family history of colorectal cancer, talk with your healthcare provider about when you should be screened.
A small step today could make a lifesaving difference tomorrow.

If you were a teenager in the 1990s rushing to finish homework in time for NBC’s “Must-See TV” lineup, it may now be time for another important “must” — scheduling a colonoscopy.

Meet our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) team!

Maria Parham Franklin Behavioral Health provides high-quality, outpatient mental health treatment designed to help adults ages 18+ achieve balance and recovery. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) features evidence-based care appropriate for those who have recently completed a higher level of care or who need more therapeutic benefit than traditional individual therapy can provide. IOP may be recommended by a healthcare provider after evaluation of the patient’s comprehensive mental health assessment of presenting problems, treatment goals and recovery needs.

Join us in wishing a HUGE congratulations to Maria Parham Franklin’s 2025 Employee of the YEAR, Scott Lawrence! 🎉

Scott is part of our plant operations team and is a two-time winning Employee of the Month, previously receiving the award in January 2024 and again in May 2025.

Scott has been an amazing asset to the Maria Parham Franklin team since he started and is truly the glue that holds Franklin together. He is the first to show up and lend a hand for whatever is needed, and his dedication and unwavering support for our facility is evident. He consistently goes above and beyond and is the perfect example of our core values.

Donna Crudup, Emergency Department Director shared, “we can’t tell you how thankful we are for you. Scott is so easy to ask anything of. Anything we do for our patients, Scott and his family step up to help provide.”

“You have to love where you work or who you work with, and we always appreciate the responsiveness of Scott and the plant ops team” added Bert Beard, CEO.

Scott stated, “it’s an honor to be recognized like this. I don’t do it for this, but it’s very nice. I’m here to ensure the safety and care for everyone we work with.”

Congratulations, Scott! You deserve this!

Oh, baby!
Last week, our Maria Parham Health team gathered to shower our very own Marketing & Communication Coordinator, Ashley Jarema, with lots of love as she prepares to welcome Baby Girl Jarema!
Ashley and her husband, Tristan, are expecting their first child — a sweet baby girl — in early March, and we could not be more excited for them. From tiny bows to lots of pink, it was a joyful celebration for a wonderful mom-to-be.
Please join us in wishing Ashley and Tristan all the best as they get ready to meet their little one. We can’t wait to see pictures of this precious new addition!

Yesterday afternoon at Maria Parham Health, we had the honor of celebrating an incredible milestone — Meredith Harris’ retirement after 40 years of dedicated service to MPH!
For four decades, Meredith has been a valued member of our Lab Team, bringing not only her expertise and commitment to excellence, but also her spunky, outspoken personality that kept us all on our toes. She has made a lasting impact on her colleagues and our organization, and she will truly be missed.
Please join us in wishing Meredith all the best as she begins this exciting new chapter. We hope retirement brings her everything she wants and more — she’s certainly earned it!
