We couldn’t end Physical Therapy month without shining a spotlight on Keith Oakes! He is the Director of Rehabilitation Services at Pike County Memorial Hospital and leads our amazing therapy teams in both Bowling Green and Louisiana.

He graduated from Rockhurst University with a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1999 and went on to earn his master’s in physical therapy in 2001. After gaining valuable experience as a staff therapist and assistant clinic director in St. Charles, Keith joined PCMH in 2008 as the lead physical therapist at our Bowling Green clinic.

In 2012, he stepped into his current leadership role, guiding our rehabilitation team and continuing to treat both inpatients and outpatients. Keith has a special interest in non-operative and post-operative orthopedic injuries and is passionate about helping patients return to their best selves.

We’re grateful for Keith’s leadership, knowledge, and dedication to his patients and team all year, but especially during Physical Therapy Month!

Today is Orthopedic Nurses Day, and we just have to give a huge shoutout to two amazing nurses here at PCMH, Janet Akers, RN, and Alexis Griffen, LPN.

These two work closely with our Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Melander, to help patients get back on their feet and return to the activities they love. They pay attention to every detail, care deeply about their patients, and make sure each person feels supported from start to finish.

What really stands out about Janet and Alexis is their heart. Whether they’re calming nerves before surgery or offering a smile when someone needs it most, they always go above and beyond. 💙

We’re so grateful for everything they do, not just today but every day.

Happy Orthopedic Nurses Day!

This week, we’re joining schools and communities across the country to celebrate Red Ribbon Week, a time to promote healthy, drug-free living.

It’s a reminder that the choices we make today shape the future of our families and community. This week is about supporting one another, encouraging healthy choices, and offering help when it’s needed most.

At PCMH, our Pike Recovery Program provides local support and treatment for those struggling with addiction. Recovery is possible, and no one has to face it alone.

Today is World Stroke Day and a reminder that recognizing the signs of a stroke can truly save a life.

At PCMH, we’re proud to be a Level 3 Stroke Center, which means our team is trained and ready to respond fast when every second counts.

If you ever suspect someone is having a stroke, remember to BE FAST:
👉 B – Balance: Sudden loss of balance or coordination
👁 E – Eyes: Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
😊 F – Face: One side of the face droops when smiling
💪 A – Arms: One arm drifts downward when both are raised
🗣 S – Speech: Slurred or strange speech
⏱ T – Time: Call 911 immediately

The faster someone gets medical attention, the better their chance of recovery.
Know the signs. Act quickly. And remember, PCMH is here for you when every second matters.

Thanks for spending part of your day with us — we hope you had fun and maybe even got a little inspiration for your future! 🏥✨
