Pike County, we heard your concerns. You told us that long response times and ambulances leaving the county made you feel uneasy. We listened, and we took action.
Starting January 1, 2026, a new EMS transport protocol will begin for all 911 calls in Pike County. This update keeps care close to home and helps our ambulances stay in the county whenever possible.
Hereβs what this means for you:
β’ All patients will be transported to Pike County Memorial Hospital unless they meet Time Critical Diagnosis criteria, such as heart attack, stroke, or major trauma.
β’ Patients who are pregnant over 16 weeks, on dialysis, have a pediatric STARS care plan, or have certain behavioral health needs may be directed to another appropriate facility.
This change strengthens our emergency response system and supports faster care for our community. Our goal is to keep you safe, shorten response times, and make sure every patient gets the right level of care when it matters most.
Thank you for trusting Pike County Memorial Hospital and Pike County EMS.
