Happy Wednesday, Fit Fam! What started as a whim turned into a life-changing decision, Fern Creek member, Ericka Dixon, walked into Fit Body Boot Camp one day not really knowing what to expect—just looking for a spark, a challenge, or maybe just something different. What she found was so much more. Here is her story:

"January 20th, 2025, I woke up early and made an impulse decision to go find Fern Creek Fit Body Boot Camp. I was searching for exercise programs in the area and FBBC would often land on my social media site, but I was intimidated by the 30-minute sessions. So, I decided to sit in and watch the classes. I did not previously know anyone that had attended the classes, so I was pretty much walking into the unknown. To my surprise, I was immediately met with nothing but kindness, hardy greetings and acceptance. So, I joined that day.

Because I had joined so many programs over the years and was unsuccessful in all of them, my only goal this time was to simply focus on working out 3-4 times a week. I did not incorporate any eating or lifestyle changes because I believe that was part of my prior downfalls. I would make all these changes all at once in an attempt to lose weight quickly and repeatedly fail when I could not endure. I must admit, I could not keep up with the classes and wanted to give up several times. But as I continued to attend, I soon noticed that I was able to endure the exercises much longer. I started lifting heavier weights, gained more energy and naturally noticed my appetite had begun to change.

So, I increased my water intake and incorporated protein. It was at this point people started to notice the weight loss. Now that I am six months in, I have lost over 25 pounds and have attended over 75 sessions. I am led to believe that this is due to the FBBC program. The program design and trainers they extend are top tier as I have NEVER participated in any health-related program this long."

Skip the bun and try a lettuce wrap.
𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
- 3 2.5 oz packets of salmon such as Starkist or Chicken of the Sea
- 3 whole eggs
- 1 cup whole wheat bread crumbs
- 1 cup chopped green scallions
- 2 tsp dried parsley
- 2 tsp dried cilantro
- 1-2 TBSP sriracha sauce
- 1 TBSP avocado or olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 100% Whole Wheat buns for serving
- lettuce, tomato, avocado for serving
𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
1. In a large bowl, add all dry ingredients and mix until blended.
2. Add wet ingredients into the dry ingredients (eggs, olive oil) and stir.
3. Stir until blended. Form into 6 patties and pan-sear or grill for ~4 minutes per side.
4. Serve with whole grain buns and lettuce, tomato, and avocado.

Happy Wednesday, Fit Fam! Like many of us, Fern Creek member, Lorilea Conyer, knew she needed more consistency in her workouts and wanted to improve her running pace — but she wasn’t sure where to start. That all changed when she found FBBC. Here is her story:

"I have been a runner for over 20 years and have run about 25 half-marathons. While I could finish races, they were a struggle, and my time has always been on the slower end (I call it a “sexy pace”). I’ve joined gyms and done strength training on and off for years but struggled to stick with a program consistently. One of my best friends started Fit Body last summer and talked about how much she enjoyed it, and I could see the progress she was making. She invited me to join her for a free class and I was hooked immediately. Unlike solo gym workouts, I loved the social aspect of the class, I love feeding off the energy and encouragement of those around me, the accountability, and I never felt intimidated because the coaches are so helpful and supportive and all ages and fitness levels are welcome. I also love that classes are only 30 minutes but pack a punch and the workouts are already designed for you, no guesswork or doing the same routine you’ve known forever. Since joining Fit Body last October, I have made new friends, learned how to clean up my eating and found recipes I enjoy, have consistently attended at least 5 classes a week (more most weeks) and actually look forward to working out. I have more stamina during my runs which has helped my pace, I feel stronger, and my clothes fit better than they have in years. I sleep better, have more energy during the day, and am feeling more confident every day. I've lost 4 pounds, gained 1.5 pounds of muscle and lost 3% body fat. I’m forever grateful for being introduced to Fit Body!"

Happy Wednesday, Fit Fam! It's time to spotlight another Fern Creek member, Tricia Johnson, who realized group fitness was the missing piece she needed to stay consistent. Here is her story:

“I started my fitness journey in 2017 working out from home. I developed my discipline and had good results. In 2023, my husband, Jeremy, and I joined FBBC together. I thought it would be a way to spend time together. The only problem was Jeremy didn’t enjoy working out. But to my surprise I found that I loved group fitness.

I found that I pushed myself harder than I did at home. The energy I got from working out with likeminded people allowed me to push myself harder. As I hit my 50s, my fitness journey turned from trying to lose the extra pounds to feeling good in my own skin. I started focusing on trying to lift heavier.

When I started FBBC, I would only lift 15lbs over my head. Today, I used a 25lb dumbbell. I no longer focus on the number on the scale but now focus on my body composition. I prioritize my protein, fiber and water intake. By completing the Habit Tracker, I am able to do an InBody scan monthly and measure my muscle mass and my body fat percentage. I have increased my muscle mass by 5.3 pounds and decreased my body fat percentage by 5.1%."

Happy Wednesday, Fit Fam! Kacey Lowe was a familiar face at Fern Creek FBBC before an injury forced her to step away. It wasn’t easy—being sidelined from the community, the workouts, and the progress she was making took a toll. But instead of letting the injury define her, Kacey made a decision: she would heal, grow, and come back stronger than ever. And that’s exactly what she did.

Here is her story:
“The first time I found FBBC I was aimlessly scrolling and found it on Facebook. I had tried everything to lose weight and had done ok at home for a while working out by myself. I lost the motivation to continue working out by myself so decided to sign up. I was very out of shape and scared I wouldn’t be able to keep up or do any of the exercises. The coaches were fantastic and modified the things I couldn’t do and pushed and encouraged me to do the things I could. It was like magic! It was fun and challenging, and it was working!

Fast forward to 2 years later I injured my ankle and had to have surgery. I thought all my hard work was for nothing. I tried to come back after about 3 months, but my ankle wasn’t ready. But it was ok because I had learned so many good habits at FBBC I was able to work out on my own for a while! When I was finally able, I came running back to FBBC in December. It is even better than before because I am so much more grateful that I can move and walk and get to work out.

When you go back to a gym after several months and the coaches are excited to see you back and remember your name you know that you have found so much more than just a gym. You have found a gym family. I have lost weight and sizes yes, but I have gained a love for myself I never thought possible. I am able to do things with my family. I have always wanted to live on the top floor of an apartment and now live on the 3rd floor because I am physically able to walk up the stairs every day.

I have lost 160 pounds and 14 inches. I thank God every day for FBBC and how it has not only changed my life but given me a life."
