We are so thrilled to add Esther Beard to The Birthkeeping Co. team! She will be jumping in as she has availability as a part-time birth doula to serve women through their pregnancy, labor and into postpartum!

Get to know her here⬇️

“Hello! I’m Esther.

I gave birth for the first time nearly 15 years ago. It changed my life forever and sparked in me a desire to support women through the transformational journey into motherhood. Ten years ago, I began supporting friends in their births and I read books on birth just for fun! I decided that maybe I wanted to do this for more than just a hobby. I decided to become a prenatal yoga teacher as a way to support women and families and shortly after I completed that training, I went forward with my doula training through DONA. In 2022, I began the path to become a lactation consultant (IBCLC) and in the summer of 2025 I passed my board exam!

Through prenatal yoga, I guide women in connecting with their bodies, building strength and flexibility, and preparing for childbirth. As a lactation consultant, I offer compassionate support and evidence-based guidance to help mothers achieve their breastfeeding goals. And as a doula, I provide emotional, physical, and informational support throughout the perinatal period. My passion is to empower women to embrace their innate strength and navigate the challenges and joys of motherhood with confidence and grace.

Often you can find me running my four kids to their activities, singing karaoke, or on a walk with my husband. My favorite pastime is reading a book in my hammock. I consider myself an extroverted book nerd who always has a book in her bag and an audiobook on her phone! I am excited to partner with you on this beautiful journey of birth and new beginnings.”

We are so excited and LUCKY to have her🤍

This is so important and a huge misconception.

A GOOD DOULA SHOULD NEVER REPLACE YOUR PARTNER.

We work to bridge a gap between both partners before, during and after labor/birth. Often there is overwhelm, frustration, or miscommunication when things aren’t going to plan, birth is long and/or hard, or when mom is in pain or not acting herself due to the birth experience. Advocacy often looks like pulling the partner aside to explain that all he is witnessing is normal, good and progressive. Sometimes it looks like coaching dad through counter pressure or just simply being present in distracting conversation with the two of them. Sometimes it’s giving the couple space for a few moments. And that’s okay!

We work closely as a team and no birth support ever looks the same. We never replace the spouse, we just join in on your team!

If you have had doula support, how did your doula support BOTH you and your partner?!

So thrilled to introduce you to The Birthkeeping Co.’s newest doula! Our current 2025 team availability will be shared later this week, so keep an eye out!

We are jumping for joy to add to the team. Get to know her here ⬇️

“My name is Sydney Palacio Diaz! I grew up in San Diego, CA and moved to Louisville, KY as a young teenager. I was originally a math teacher, but was completely transformed by my first pregnancy and birth experience. I had my first at home after a long and challenging 40+ hour labor; though it was incredible and empowering, it would have made a huge difference to have a doula there to see me through. This sparked a desire to give other women the support I wish I would have had. I did my first doula training with when my oldest was about a year old. I have since been trained and certified by BBTW. I also made sure to have a doula present at my second home birth, and can say firsthand: there is truly nothing that compares to women supporting women.

My goal is to provide emotional, physical, spiritual, and educational support throughout your pregnancy, labor, and birth. I am also here to advocate that your care be evidence-based and patient-centered. My desire is for you to leave your birth experience feeling confident and empowered as you enter in to the next stage of your motherhood. Every birth I attend makes me more and more passionate about this work.

When I’m not supporting women as a doula or home birth assistant, you will probably find me hanging with my husband and my boys, cooking or baking sourdough bread, reading a good book, attempting to learn piano, or trying to catch up on laundry. I can’t wait to meet you and get to know you!”

We are excited to be expanding our team!

We have loved having .olivia_.collins with us this past year. She is a phenomenal doula and will be greatly missed. She will finish up her last birth with us in September and is no longer taking clients. She has decided it’s best for her and her family at this time but will still be involved in the birth world at a local hospital and birth center.

With that being said, we are looking to fill her position as well as add an additional part-time doula to our team. If you or someone you know is looking to join us, we would LOVE to have you inquire. Please send any interest - including a resume - to connect@thebirthkeepingco.com and we will be in touch!

The sweetest little nugget - baby Walker Logan. Born July 2024!

-

“Having a doula at our birth brought us so much peace and comfort as first time, parents. We loved having someone that we trust to turn to with questions and to support us – especially when things didn’t go as planned:)

During pregnancy, I felt overwhelmed at all the information there was to learn, but once we had to Doula, it brought me so much peace leading up to the Birth because I knew I would have someone there that I could trust and that is so knowledgeable and experience when it comes to Birth! Emily was so supportive before during and after the birth experience! Things did not go as planned for us at all, and we were so fortunate to have her to lean on and encourage us as you welcome to our baby boy! “

It was an absolute honor and joy to join Kenzie and Logan in welcoming their sweet baby boy Walker! I never, ever take the invitation to walk along side these families for granted.

Through a very long and unexpected birth process, we were able to navigate things when they didn’t go as planned and still get their sweet boy here safely. Kenzie labored with such strength and perspective and is an incredible mom- and Logan was some of the best support that I have ever seen in a spouse. Just so thankful for them!

I’m begging you, don’t let your first birth be your “trial run”!

Own it from the beginning. Birth Plan. Talk through options. Fight for your desires. Find the provider that aligns with your wishes.

We have so many moms who come to us - pregnant with their second, third, fourth… - and they have serious birth trauma from their previous delivery. Some of it was circumstances. Some of it was lack of education. Some of it was lack of advocacy. Some of it was just succumbing to protocol because they didn’t know they had other options. Some of it was mistreatment by providers. Some of it was medical intervention that WASN’T needed. Some of it was medical intervention that WAS needed, but wasn’t explained well and left them feeling isolated and afraid.

You have every right to have your dream birth - the first time around! I hope you feel empowered from the second you get your first positive pregnancy test - to educate, to fight for and to find JOY in delivering your little one 🤎

Sweet Hallie Mae, born in May 2024

“I was in my third trimester when my husband and I decided to get a doula for my second pregnancy. Although I had thought we were a little late in making this decision, Emily did an amazing job at making sure to equip us with her expertise and resources, and made us feel at peace and confident during the short time we had left of my pregnancy. We were so impressed with how intentional Emily was in all areas, including her communication with us throughout the entire journey. We were amazed that she did all of this while postpartum with two kiddos and a newborn at home; she is truly a supermom!

Emily met my husband and I at the hospital and immediately began helping me find ways to cope through contractions. Her presence felt so calming and reassuring. She was so quick to take the initiative whether I needed some cold rags, to change positions, or a hair tie because mine broke when I was getting ready to push; I did not have a need that was not met thanks to Emily. My husband and I were so grateful to have her there with us!”

-

Morgan and Harrison are incredible parents and they were a beautiful example of unity in birth as they welcomed their baby girl. Morgan labored with peace and composure and not to mention she was one of the most beautiful mommas I have ever watched work through transition. Again - such an honor to join them on their journey and their Hallie Mae is a dream🥹
