Early answers matter.

For young children (up to 8 years old), we incorporate advanced tools like EarliPoint™ to support early autism identification. This technology uses eye-tracking to measure how children engage with social information - adding an objective layer to a comprehensive clinical evaluation.

Combined with gold-standard assessment methods, this allows us to provide earlier, more precise insights - so families can move forward with confidence.

Autism Acceptance Month reminds us: a diagnosis is not a label - it’s a lens.

A high-quality evaluation should do more than answer “yes” or “no.” It should help you understand *how* a child or teen experiences the world, processes information, and connects with others.

At our practice, we focus on clarity, nuance, and individualized insight - because every neurodivergent profile is unique.

When your child is struggling at school, it’s rarely about “not trying hard enough.”

It might look like:

* Trouble paying attention
* Big emotions after school
* Avoiding homework
* Anxiety about tests or reading aloud
* Falling behind despite lots of effort

Underneath those behaviors are usually skill gaps, anxiety, executive functioning challenges, learning differences, or simply a nervous system that’s overwhelmed.

At Wright Psychology & Counseling, we help families move from confusion and frustration to clarity and a concrete plan. Through comprehensive evaluations and targeted support, we identify what’s really going on and provide specific recommendations for home and school.

Your child isn’t lazy. They aren’t broken. They may just need the right support.

If you’re wondering whether an evaluation or therapy could help, reach out. We’re here to help your child feel confident and capable again.

Uncovering problems, unlocking potential! We are unparalleled experts in conducting assessments that uncover the root cause of academic and behavioral problems to create a detailed roadmap that is personalized to each student, getting results that build a critical foundation for the rest of their lives.

The school to prison pipeline is not a myth.
“Children who are starting from behind need to be taught ‘explicitly up front’.
Without extra help to build up things like vocabulary, grammar and comprehension, these children risk falling further behind and some will end up in the so-called ‘school-to-prison pipeline’.”
- Professor Pamela Snow

Our Story

Welcome to The Wright Psychology and Learning Center. Our mission is to serve children and families in the Louisville, KY area by providing exceptional psychological and educational services. Our Doctoral-Level Licensed Psychologists specialize in the evaluation of Learning Disorders and ADHD, with a specific expertise in Dyslexia. We also offer research-based, one-on-one tutoring for students with Dyslexia using Orton-Gillingham and Structured Word Inquiry methodologies. The Wright Psychology and Learning Center was founded by Dr. Maggie Wright in 2006. Dr. Wright is passionate about helping children reach their full potential and this passion is what fuels her work at Wright Psychology. From the humble beginnings of a solo practice in 2006, The Wright Psychology and Learning Center has grown to 5 Licensed Psychologists and 7 Professional Dyslexia Interventionists. Our Psychologists provide assessment and therapy of a wide variety of concerns including Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Behavioral Disorders, Giftedness/Twice-Exceptional Learners and Learning Disorders, with a focused specialty on Dyslexia. Our Psychological Assessment reports consistently receive praise and positive feedback for their comprehensive and thorough approach as well as detailed and individualized recommendations. Our reports provide not only the “nuts and bolts” of the evaluation results, but a true roadmap for intervention and accommodations.

Dr. Wright believes in “giving back” to the Louisville community and frequently offers presentations and talks to local schools and advocacy organizations free of charge. In November 2017 the entire practice offered Free Dyslexia Screenings to children in Kindergarten through First Grade as a community service and to help raise awareness about the importance of early identification of Dyslexia.
