Two days after her birthday, one mom thought her stomach ache was just another part of pregnancy, but it was the start of her daughter’s fight to survive. Born weighing only 1 pound, 14 ounces, her baby girl spent 146 days in the Norton Children’s NICU, where every “hand hug,” every heartbeat, and every small milestone mattered.

Today, that tiny fighter is thriving, living proof of the strength, care and hope that fill our NICU every single day. 💜

When Hayes’ mom, Libby, learned early in her pregnancy that she had almost no amniotic fluid and that Hayes’ chances were slim, the journey ahead seemed impossible.
