We often think mobility fades with age—but in reality, it fades with inactivity.
Your body is always adapting… the question is, what is it adapting to?

If we stop moving, we get stiffer, weaker, and more prone to pain.
But if we move with intention—even just a little each day—we give our body the signal to stay strong and capable.

This is why I focus on improving mobility through muscle activation and progressive strength training —not just stretching or high-intensity trends.

💬 What’s one simple way you’ve moved today?

These are the top 5 things that contributed to my own chronic pain story, and those that I see over and over every single day in patients at the Pain Psychology Center.

This isn’t aimed at calling you out or blaming you for what you’re going through, these are such common features of everyone’s story! This is to highlight the scenarios I see over and over that eventually, once we notice them, we can work our way out of.

When you boil it down to the bones, these elements put your brain on high alert and can dramatically aggravate your symptoms.

These things are natural - and most of the time - automatic. We don’t choose to have them, but once we notice how much they are “salting the wound” of our experience we can make the choice whether to continue or trash them - which takes away their power. A big part ofthe healing process lies in noticing, being mindful of what triggers our pain further, what perpetuates worry and fear, and catch them in the moment.

Beating yourself up for not seeing these things as triggers is not helping you - take the knowledge, hold onto it, and have some compassion for yourself as you start to notice how these things influence your experience.

👩💥 In the last few weeks, several women were referred to me by their doctors for an evaluation or treatment of an autoimmune condition or fibromyalgia. These women have had years of joint & muscle pain, stiffness, fatigue, hair loss, brain fog, anxiety; some had dry mouth, and one woman complained of a new severe burning mouth sensation without a known cause. Although their conditions and diagnoses were different, one thing they had in common was that they were in perimenopause, and it made everything more complicated!
Perimenopause and menopause are significant transitional phases in a woman's life marked by hormonal fluctuations, particularly a decline in estrogen levels. These hormonal changes can have far-reaching effects on various systems within the body, including the immune system.
Many perimenopause and menopause symptoms may feel like autoimmune or fibromyalgia symptoms or make you feel like your symptoms have intensified or do not respond to your typical treatments anymore.
A recent study has found that women with menopause symptoms are nearly twice as likely to have chronic pain diagnoses, such as fibromyalgia, migraine, and back pain.
Today, let's talk about what is perimenopause and menopause & the symptoms. Stay tuned for Part 2- continue our conversation on the effects of these important hormonal changes on rheumatic, autoimmune conditions & chronic pain, such as fibromyalgia!

"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."

Millennia ago, Hippocrates articulated a truth that remains as paramount today as it was then: what we eat fundamentally shapes our health.

This enduring principle has withstood the test of time, validated by both ancient wisdom and modern science.

At the Food is Medicine convening in Tulsa, I had the privilege of learning, reconnecting, and collaborating with a group of forward-thinking minds — individuals unafraid to challenge the status quo and a community bold enough to say, "The emperor has no clothes," or more precisely, "You are what you eat."

It is time to reimagine healthcare as more than a system of reactionary treatments but as a proactive approach grounded in a simple, time-tested truth: FOOD IS MEDICINE
