When I think I've surrendered, I surrender more" ~Gabrielle Bernstein
I have this routine on pulling a card each morning from a deck that is inspired by the book "The Universe has you Back". I have pulled this same card for a few days.
Surrender for me is a reminder to relinquish a little more control that I perceive as helping me when actually its holding me back from myself. Let me explain. Control is a facade attempting to bury any hurt, pain I may feel in order to not feel it. If I living authentically, I don't lean on control as much because I know that I must feel these hard emotions and move through them with them instead of burying them under the facade of control. I believe there is a very big difference between control and managing external parts of life (events, etc)
When we apply "control" to our emotional lives - we stunt our own growth out of fear of feeling what our authentic selves need to feel.
So, surrendering is sending the "control" to rest and bringing forth our authentic selves that understand inside and out their core beliefs and the values that inform them. Then our emotions do not run out of control they are running in flow with the integrity of our values. Surrender and then surrender some more. It's a practice.
