PAR-People Advocating Recovery

PAR-People Advocating Recovery PAR is an organization working to eliminate barriers to recovery from substance use disorders

We work to support and provide mentorship for the development of new recovery community organizations. We work alongside state agencies, people in recovery, and other stake holders to ensure gaps are filled and needs are being met across the recovery continuum. PAR draws from research that has been conducted at the federal level to inform and create curriculums and implementation procedures for organizations, agencies, and other stakeholders wishing to create more spaces for recovery equity in their practices. We work to support the needs of the community by elevating voices with lived experience. We train, support and cultivate grassroots advocates to use their voice and share the reality- that recovery is thriving in Kentucky.

January is . 2026 is only the second time this month has ever been recognized—which says a lot about how long treatment and recovery have been overlooked.

For young people, access to treatment can mean staying in school, staying connected, and staying alive. This month isn’t about slogans. It’s about making sure real support exists, stigma doesn’t block care, and recovery is treated like the healthcare it is.

Treatment matters. Especially for youth. If you or someone you know is struggling, visit https://youngpeopleinrecovery.org/resources/ to find resources and get connected.

Feeling a little "static" lately?

It's National Static Electricity Day, and after the first full week of the year, a lot of us might be feeling a little "zapped". Between returning to routines and managing New Year's expectations, the friction of daily life can build up.

In recovery, when things feel "static" or tense, it's a sign to get grounded. Today, take a moment to:
*Step away from the screens.
*Put your feet on the grass (or just take a mindful walk).
*Connect with a friend who makes you feel calm.

What is your favorite way to "de-static" and find your peace at the end of a long week? Let us know below!👇
