As a doula, I love being able to capture pieces of my clients story. Birth photography/videography and special behind-the-scenes moments can be such a meaningful part of your journey, giving you memories to look back on for years to come. These are the moments that pass by so quickly, but mean everything.

Doula services may include:
• Prenatal support and education
• Birth planning assistance
• Labor support
• Comfort measures and encouragement
• Partner support
• Immediate postpartum support
• Photos and/or videography of your birth experience when desired

I truly believe everyone can benefit from having a doula, even if your main goal is just capturing the moments and having a supportive friend 💕🫶🏻🤰🏼

One of my favorite little extras after birth — placenta prints. The literal tree of life.

Birth is powerful, raw, emotional, and full of meaning, and I love being able to help preserve a small piece of that story in such a unique way. Every print is different, just like every birth.

Here’s one I got from yesterday ❤️🪾

Good info for those wishing to utilize an epidural!

What your doula wished you knew...

I’d tell you it’s beautiful.

I’d tell you it’s sacred.
I’d tell you it’s empowering.
I’d tell you it’s candlelight and whispered affirmations and women discovering their strength.

And all of that is true.

But here’s the part I we don't say enough:

Your doula cares about your birth more than you know.

She cares about how you are spoken to.
She cares about who touches you and when.
She cares about the tone in the room.
She cares about the pause before a decision.
She cares about your partner not feeling lost.
She cares about your “no” being heard the first time.
She cares about your dignity.

She is watching everything.

She notices when your shoulders tense before you say you’re scared.
She notices when the room gets loud.
She notices when you need water, or quiet, or reassurance, or space.

Because birth is not just about how your baby arrives.
It’s about how you arrive.

You deserve to look back and remember strength.
You deserve to remember being respected.
You deserve to remember feeling supported, not managed.

A doula is not there to control your birth.
She is there to protect your experience.

And long after the lights are turned off and the room is quiet,
she will still be thinking about you.

Wondering if you’re resting.
Hoping you feel proud.
Hoping you feel seen.

That’s the part we don’t put in the brochure.

We don’t just show up for your contractions.
We show up for you.

Tuesday into Wednesday brought a new chapter in my doula journey. I supported my client for over 24 hours through an induction and trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC). After a few fetal heart rate decelerations and pure exhaustion- she made the informed decision to proceed with a repeat cesarean section.

While a cesarean is not typically the intended outcome in doula work, my role is to support my client’s preferences and informed choices every step of the way. I’m grateful I was able to be there for her and that both she and her baby girl are safe & healthy. I can now say i am experienced in both epidural labors and csections. It was such a meaningful experience to stand beside her as she welcomed her baby into the world & to be the one to hold her baby to her as she got in those first snuggles & kisses.

Congratulations mama 💕

🍁 Happy Thanksgiving 🍁

Today my heart is especially full.
To every family who has welcomed me into their sacred birth space — past, present, and soon-to-come — thank you. Your trust is one of the greatest gifts I could ever receive.

Being invited to hold space during such an intimate and powerful moment in your lives is something I’ll never take lightly. I am endlessly grateful for the strength you’ve shared and the love I’ve witnessed.

Wishing each of you a holiday filled with peace, warmth, and connection.

Having a birth doula can make a powerful difference in your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. Here’s a clear breakdown of why many families choose to have one:

🤝 What is a Doula?

A birth doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and shortly after childbirth. Unlike medical providers, a doula doesn’t perform clinical tasks—but focuses entirely on you and your comfort, confidence, and care.

🌟 Why Have a Birth Doula?

1. Continuous Support During Labor

Unlike nurses and doctors who rotate shifts, a doula stays with you throughout your labor, offering consistent, one-on-one care.

2. Reduced Risk of Interventions

Studies show that people who have a doula are:
• Less likely to need a C-section
• Less likely to request an epidural
• More likely to have shorter labors
• More likely to feel satisfied with their birth experience

(According to research from Cochrane Reviews and Evidence Based Birth)

3. Emotional Support for You & Your Partner

Doulas help you stay calm, confident, and informed. They also support your partner—guiding them in how to help you best, so you’re both involved and empowered.

4. Hands-On Comfort Techniques

From massage to movement suggestions, breathing guidance, and position changes, doulas offer tools and techniques to help manage labor pain naturally (or alongside medical support).

5. Advocacy & Communication Help

Your doula helps you understand your options and encourages open communication with your care team. They don’t speak for you—but they help you feel heard and supported in your decisions.

6. Support Beyond Birth

Many doulas also assist in the early postpartum period—offering breastfeeding support, recovery tips, and reassurance as you adjust to life with a new baby.

7. Birth Photography/Videography

Many doulas (myself included) will capture moments throughout labor/birth at their clients request. I even have been known to make sweet video reels for my clients highlighting their most raw and precious moments.

💬 In Short:

A doula is your personal guide through birth—a steady presence who offers knowledge, comfort, and care when you need it most.

Whether you’re planning a hospital birth, home birth, medicated or unmedicated, a doula helps you feel more in control, more supported, and less alone.
