The Summit Wellness Center for First Responders was created to help Louisville’s police officers and emergency workers combat the intense physical, psychological and emotional demands they face while serving our community. With a holistic approach focusing on building resilience in the mind, body and spirit through the five pillars of wellness (Mental, Physical, Spiritual, Social and Financial), the center helps keep our officers healthier and more resilient. In addition, it enables these individuals and their families to thrive in the face of challenges and better navigate adversity. As of October 2024, over 350 officers have received mental health services through Shelton Forensic Solutions, which has expanded to include trauma care and eliminated a waitlist that previously held more than 20 officers. Pro Team Tactical has provided more than 2,000 physical rehab sessions and added a third therapist in May to meet growing demand. Their work is helping injured officers return to duty faster, with Summit’s average time off for musculoskeletal injuries at just 7.7 days—significantly below the national average of 10 days. Our chaplain continues to be available daily to officers and their families, offering steady support beyond moments of crisis. More than 170 LMPD employees, both sworn and civilian, have participated in financial wellness programs. And our first responder Halloween Party brought together over 300 attendees, including police, retirees, fire, EMS, corrections, and their families.
