Numbers Game:

👉🏽US is now at 1 in 35 kids with an diagnosis.

✅ 1 in 35 = 2.86 percent (kids with autism in US, 2023)
✅ 1 in 10,000 = 0.01 percent (kids with autism in US, 1975)
➡️ 2.86% is 286x higher than 0.01.
..This means autism prevalence is nearly 300x higher than it was in 1975. 👎🏽 🤬

➡️ Compare this to other things that have changed since 1975:

✅ Median new home price in 1975 was $32,000.... An increase of 286x higher would mean a median new home price today would be $9,152,000.

That's just one illustration of how the increase in has utterly blown away anything imaginable back in 1975 (when I was 15, and I remember, there simply were no kids with an autism diagnosis even in my public high school with 2000 or so students). Saying "1 in 35" sounds small, and misleads parents, teachers, doctors, and policy makers to believe that these numbers aren't so bad. But they're really bad, and they are not explained by saying we have better diagnostics. We have to do better!

Long ago and far away.... At the link below is my testimony before my state legislature in 2001 regarding safety of "the schedule" for babies and kids. By this time I had also already given testimony before a Congressional SubCommittee on the same issue.

Pictured here, I'm holding a dossier of meeting minutes from 1980s-2000 between FDA, manufacturers, CDC, and ACIP on getting this dose approved, marketed, and positioned in the schedule. This one got approved in a record breaking five month period. Sound familiar? Only difference: There was no emergency.

Nearly a quarter century has passed. The policy to keep this one on "the schedule" is still in place, still unnecessary for newborns, and still injuring every single day. Know before you go into delivering your baby. What would you do?

Decades ago, when I was a new mom, my baby's symptoms were waved off as me simply exaggerating and being an anxious mom. True story! No awareness existed 🤦🏽‍♀️
