This week we said goodbye to a very special member of our Vitality family. 💙
John was more than a resident — he was an ambassador, a friend, and a familiar, comforting presence to all who knew him.
John had a way of bringing people together, especially on Sunday nights when he proudly ran karaoke. Those evenings were filled with laughter, music, and the kind of joy that only John could create. And if chicken livers were on the menu, you knew John was smiling.
In 2023, WHAS followed John on his Honor Flight, giving the world a glimpse into the life of a man who served his country and lived with gratitude, humor, and heart. We are honored to share a clip of WHAS remembering him — a tribute that reflects just how meaningful his life was.
John leaves behind his beloved wife of over 70 years, Mary Jo, a love story that stands as a beautiful testament to commitment, faithfulness, and enduring devotion. We will continue to support Mary Jo as Vitality family.
John leaves behind a legacy of connection, service, and simple joys shared with others. He will be deeply missed by residents, staff, and everyone whose life he touched.
Thank you, John, for the music, the memories, and the love you gave so freely. Your song will stay with us always.
Close to 1.7 million Americans fought in the Korean War, often referred to as "The Forgotten War," between World War II and Vietnam. More than 36,000 never made it home.
