After nine months of expansion and then a birth where your portal is as open as it will ever be, you may walk around feeling raw and exposed. Your organs are finding their original homes, your hormones are shifting more rapidly than at any other time in the human experience, and your tissues are knitting back together.
Here are a few important ways to support and honor your body in this tender and transformative period.
1. Prioritize Warmth: Prioritize warm foods, warm drinks, and literally keeping your body warm (especially your lower back and feet) to support circulation and healing.
2. Bodywork as Medicine: This is the time for gentle, restorative touch. Consider a Reiki or Reflexology or in-home Pelvic Floor Assessment (after the initial healing phase) to help your nervous system move out of "survival mode" and back into your body.
3. The "Five-Five-Five" Rule: 5 days in the bed, 5 days on the bed, 5 days around the bed. Physical rest isn't "doing nothing" it is the active work of cellular repair.
