Meet Pam Cook, known to many as the unofficial “mayor” of Norton Hospital. For 20 years, she was the smiling face patients and co-workers could count on.
When Parkinson’s disease forced her into an early retirement, Pam thought her days of connecting with others were over. But with the support of Jason L. Crowell, M.D., and the team at Norton Neuroscience Institute, along with therapy at Norton Healthcare Pavilion, Pam found her strength again.
Now, instead of saying goodbye, Pam is back where she belongs — volunteering with our comfort cart, bringing joy, encouragement and comfort to patients, visitors and staff. 💙
“I was a patient at Norton, roles reversed situation, and they showed me so much love and care, just like I tried to do for the patients who came in when I was working there,” Pam shared.
What could have been the end of her story became a new chapter.

Jonny had known about his bicuspid aortic valve since he was a kid. But at 32 — healthy, active and training for triathlons — he never expected to hear the words “heart failure.”
What followed was a rapid decline in heart function and a lifesaving valve replacement at Norton Heart & Vascular Institute. Thanks to a minimally invasive procedure, Jonny avoided open-heart surgery and was back home the next day.
Now, he’s sharing his story and giving back through his work with Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates.
Congratulations to Andrea Sprinkle, RN, a DAISY Award honoree at Norton Brownsboro Hospital! 🌼

Congratulations to our recent DAISY award winner Morgan Bickel! 🌼 🏆Here is what Morgan’s nominator had to say:
"My first contact with Morgan was when I was first admitted to the floor. I heard a lovely voice say, “Good morning, friend”. Morgan walked closer with a lovely smile as she greeted me. She gave a presence of happiness, compassion and peace. Every time Morgan entered the room, I was greeted with “Hello friend”. We got to talk about her career, her goals and her dreams. She is a very smart, kind and compassionate nurse. I had Morgan as my nurse for two days. I truly felt like I had a new friend. We said our goodbyes, as she was off the next few days. A few days later, she returned and visited me before and after her shift. She was genuinely happy to see I was improving. She made a point that evening to bring me some ice cream. She provided outstanding care. Morgan deserves this Daisy award many times over."
Thank you for all that you do, Morgan! 💙

A big congratulations to our recent DAISY Award winner, Sav Motely, RN! 🌼 Sav was nominated by a patient's spouse, this is what they had to say:
"My husband was placed in ICU due to a sudden illness. To see him decline so quickly was devastating I have been very overwhelmed. I am not a medical person. I do not understand many of the medications or what’s going on at times. I have been under so much stress because it’s hard for me to think of what he will need in the future. Sav recognized this. She has helped me with some of the most trying things. She helped me get the correct paperwork to seek emergency guardianship and get it to the correct doctors. She took the time to explain everything going on and making sure I understood it all.
She is a kind soul. Her compassion, honesty and caring demeanor helped so much. I am not sure what is going to happen with him but it helps to know there are people like her that truly cares. I am thankful for nurses like Sav.
Thank you Sav, for being a breath of fresh air in a situation that has taken my breath from me."
Thank you for all that you do, Sav! 💙
