Last week, our employees were treated to a variety of pies, courtesy of our RAMP Committee. Our Activities Coordinator, Alyssa, served up French Silk pie, Banana Cream pie, Peanut butter pie, and Turtle pie to everyone. This was the perfect sweet treat to get our staff through their day and show them how much they are appreciated. 🥧

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🎗️

This month, we stand united in support of survivors, those currently in the fight, and the families walking alongside them. Together, we can spread hope, strength, and awareness. 💖

Last week, our residents collected fall leaves and dried them for a craft. After putting the leaves under the piece of paper, they used a colored pencil to shade on top of the paper, imprinting the leaves outline and veins onto the paper. Some chose to just outline the leaves, which turned out great as well. We can’t wait for more festive fall crafts in our future! 🍁🍂

Each month, we have a Bingo auction to spend their Bingo Bucks that they earn throughout the month. There’s always a variety of prizes for the residents to choose from like snacks, blankets, coloring books, festive décor, and more! This month was extra special because we also celebrated our Activities Assistant, Amber’s, birthday. Everyone got a cupcake, and we sang Happy Birthday to Amber. Now, time to save up more Bingo Bucks for next month!

Recently, our staff were treated to dirty sodas, which are classic sodas mixed with syrups, creamer, and toppings. Our Staff Coordinator, September, and Activities Coordinator, Alyssa, went around the facility with a dirty soda cart, offering a refreshing treat to everyone. There were 5 different combinations to choose from, all named after a medical term. This was such a fun and unique treat for our staff.

At Altercare Louisville, we are grateful for our outstanding Environmental Services team; Jake, Susan, Megan, Sam, Connie, and Sharon. Your dedication keeps our facility clean, comfortable, and welcoming for our residents each day.

A special shout out to Susan, who has been part of our team for 10 years, and Connie, who has been with us for 8 years. Thank you for your years of commitment and care.

Last week, our residents got to bake some chocolate cupcakes for cooking club! Each resident got to add one ingredient and then baked them. They turned out delicious and it was a great way to bond with one another.

Last week, our Staff Coordinator, September, and Activities Coordinator, Alyssa, walked around the facility and made coffee for our hardworking team! Everyone loved the variety of creamers, cold foam, syrups, and especially the sweet notes on the cups. Thank you, September and Alyssa, for treating the staff and giving them an extra pep in their step!

Last week, our staff participated in a Duck Scavenger Hunt! Over the week, our staff were on the hunt for small ducks hidden throughout the facility. Our winner, CNA Dajaur, found 87 ducks in total! Congratulations on your game-night themed basket, Dajaur. 🦆

Back in the spring, our residents planted flower and squash seeds to kick off our garden. Since then, they’ve been helping water and care for them each day, and their hard work has paid off! The flowers are blooming beautifully, and the squash is growing big and healthy. This garden has been such a fun and rewarding activity for our residents all summer long! 🌱🌷

Employee Spotlight
Meet Kelly! ⭐️

Kelly Stephens, RN, recently joined our team as our Assistant Director of Nursing. Her favorite part of the job are the interactions she has with the residents and feeling like she’s made at least a small difference in other’s lives. Kelly would like to continue her nursing education and one day be a Director of Nursing. When asked who inspires her, Kelly stated, “I have had the pleasure of meeting many women who have been able to impact others through being a wife, mother, and nurse. I try to take a little of what they taught me and live my life with purpose.”

Kelly and her husband Justin have three children, and their first grandbaby is on the way! In her free time, Kelly likes to read, fish, camp, and spend time with her family and friends. A fun fact about Kelly is that she loves coffee, specifically anything sweet! She also loves football, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes.

We are so glad to have you as a part of our Altercare team, Kelly, and we can’t wait to see what you bring to our facility! 💙
