What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small post, usually made of titanium, that serves as a substitute for the root of the tooth.

A connector, known as an abutment, is placed on, or built into, the top of the dental implant, which connects it to the replacement tooth.

Finally, a crown, the replacement tooth, is custom fabricated to match your natural teeth, completing the dental implant.

Together, these 3 components make a full replacement tooth that looks, feels, and acts like a natural tooth would.

We are pleased to introduce to you our Front Desk, Kaeli!

Kaeli has been with us for 7 months and has been an exceptional addition to LOS. Kaeli comes to us with over 10 years experience in customer service.

Kaeli’s primary duties at LOS are greeting patients when they arrive and getting them checked in, answering the phones, and managing the schedule.

Kaeli recently got married and enjoys spending her time outside of work hanging out with her husband and their cats- Mr. Zo, Mr. Bub and Miss Ma’am (who are their entire world). She enjoys hiking when the weather permits and is a big Buffalo Bills fan. GO BILLS!

Meet Tonya, our dedicated Surgical Assistant!

Tonya graduated from MedQuest College in 2019. She initially joined LOS for externship hours, and six years later, she's still a valued member of our team.

In her role, Tonya assists Dr. Babcock in every surgery and diligently monitors patients' vital signs throughout the procedures.

Tonya finds true joy in getting to know her patients and being able to address their individual dental needs.

Tonya has been married for 10 years. Together they share 7 kids, 1 grandkid, and 1 spoiled rotten pup named Daisy Mae (you can spot her below)

Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, working out and exploring Red River Gorge.

We hope everyone had a safe and warm holiday season!

We are back with our introductions and are so excited to introduce our Implant Coordinator, Lauren!

Lauren graduated from ATA College in 2011 and has been with LOS since January of 2014. Prior to joining LOS, she worked in Pediatric dentistry and Endodontics.

Lauren is certified in IV placement and Radiographing Imaging. As Implant Coordinator, she handles every implant case from start to finish.

Lauren loves being able to put her patients mind at ease and keeping them calm and comfortable during their procedures.

Outside of work, Lauren enjoys spending as much time as she can with her 2 kids. She is a huge Kansas City Chiefs and Kentucky Wildcats fan. When she’s not at work or with her family, you can find her at the bowling alley.

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce our beloved Dr. Joseph H. Cieslak passed away on December 13th, 2024.

Dr. Cieslak was deeply loved and is going to be sorely missed.

We are thrilled to introduce our dedicated Office Coordinator, Tiffany!

Tiffany, who graduated from ATA in 2011, has been a valued member of LOS since 2012. Her role as Office Coordinator involves extensive research into insurance benefits to develop comprehensive treatment plans for our patients.

Beyond her primary responsibilities, Tiffany is a versatile team member who excels in various office tasks. She is certified in administering IVs and taking Radiographic imaging. Truly a jack of all trades, Tiffany is an invaluable asset to our team, and we are incredibly fortunate to have her!

Tiffany's motto, "Teamwork makes the dream work," perfectly reflects her dedication to patient care and team support. She finds great joy in helping our patients and witnessing their transformations throughout their journey with us.

Tiffany is a huge UofL fan. Outside of work, she enjoys spending her time at the soccer and softball fields watching her 2 daughters play and she loves spending time at home loving on her 4 dogs.

We couldn't be more grateful for Tiffany's commitment and contributions.

It’s time to meet our Office Manager! The one who makes it all happen behind the scenes- Christy. She has been with the practice since 2013.

Christy’s philosophy is to treat every patient the way you would treat yourself or your family.

Her career started as a dental assistant and has progressed through the ranks. Prior to joining LOS, she was fortunate to train in a variety of specialties in dentistry that include prosthodontics, periodontics and orthodontic treatments and planning.

Boss lady (as we refer to her here at the office) truly loves what she does and feels fortunate to be able to help our patients. She is here to help patients navigate through all their dental needs.

Some fun facts about Christy: She spends her free time Jeeping and enjoying her 6 adult children. She is looking forward to starting her new journey of being a Grandmother!

As some of you may have heard, Dr. Cieslak has retired and we wish him well!

We are still here to serve you and are excited to let you know Dr. Christopher Babcock has stepped up and is now our main Doctor!

Meet our Doctor:

Dr. Babcock is an experienced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who has been with us since 2018, but he brings with him over 25 years of experience. Dr. Babcock received his Bachelors in Biology from Indiana University in 1991, he then went on to get his DMD and MD from the University of Louisville in 1997 and 2000, respectively.

He specializes in tooth extractions and dental implants and has a strong interest in full mouth restoration. He is a certified Teethxpress provider, giving us the ability to restore your smile in one day. Please let us know how we can serve YOU!

Some fun facts about Dr. Babcock: He is an avid traveler and cat lover!

One of the most commonly ask questions I’m the office by patients is “what are dental implants?”. Dental implants are medical devices surgically implanted into the jaw to restore a person's ability to chew or their appearance. They provide support for artificial (fake) teeth, such as crowns, bridges, or dentures.
