Excited to attend this session! 🙌
If you have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) or hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD), you're not imagining it—your hormones really do affect your symptoms.
Many women with EDS/HSD deal with:
- Painful periods
- Heavy bleeding
- Pain during intimacy
- Chronic pelvic pain
And here's what often gets overlooked: hormonal shifts can make your hypermobility symptoms worse. This includes puberty, the week before your period, after having a baby, and sometimes even on birth control.
Menopause deserves special attention too. When estrogen drops, it can amplify the joint pain, muscle aches, and connective tissue problems you're already managing—yet this connection rarely gets discussed.
This is exactly why I'm passionate about treating the whole person, not just the joints. Your hormones and your hypermobility are connected, and you deserve a care team that understands that.

After a 2.5-year break from podcasting, at the request of one of my patients, I recorded another episode of my podcast: "Mind Your Hormones: Perimenopause, Menopause, and Fibromyalgia - Here's What You Need to Know." It's about the musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause and the overlap of the symptoms with fibromyalgia.

10/19/2025

Half the world will experience menopause.
And yet, it remains one of the least studied and least resourced stages of human health.

For some, the transition is a shifting landscape: hot flashes and sleepless nights, but also brain fog, anxiety, changes in libido, and a quiet reckoning with identity.

Too often, women are told to simply endure.

An integrative approach offers something more.

It begins with the whole person. Your physician (or PA / NP) takes time to understand your story: your symptoms, your frustrations, your home life, your stress levels, your goals, your purpose.

An integrative menopause plan includes lifestyle medicine and, for some, supplements and herbs and hormonal / pharmacologic tools.

It’s not one-size-fits-all. It’s integrative care that meets you where you’re at and emphasizes your innate capacity to heal.

This year, the International Menopause Society released The Role of Lifestyle Medicine in Menopausal Health, showing that lifestyle medicine can help women move through menopause with greater resilience, improving sleep, mood, and weight regulation while reducing risks for heart disease and bone loss.

Menopause is a natural transition, but for many, it can bring significant change. An integrative approach offers real, evidence-based support for every stage of the journey.

What are your thoughts on menopause and medicine?
