This client has had chronic shoulder pain for years. Surgeries and rehab haven’t worked. They were gracious to trust me for an 8 week protocol to see if the issue is biomechanical.

So, far, the results are very very hopeful. Pain can have many sources and many roots. Lack of sleep can contribute.

And a pain free and sleep filled night can do wonders for recovery.

My back has been hurting.

Not uncommon for someone in their middle age but uncommon enough for me.

Around two years ago, I suffered a spinal injury in a pilates private, one of those moments that shifted my relationship with my body since.

The winter has also not helped. I’ve been dormant. In my little cave and waiting for the chill to thaw.

And today in meditation, I felt my back. A deep dull ache, in my bones. One thing I currently notice in my clients is they don’t know where their pain is coming from, just that it exists.

I understand my pain. I took myself into a somatic exploration. Just my awareness in my body, with long languid movements and feel a familiar tightness into my hip. An old trauma lives there, compensations from a car accident.

I moved into that place, feeling the hip, the stiffness, the awareness growing.

POP. My hip moves and I feel tendon and ligament slide with the bone.

And the pain is gone. Sometimes the body holds pain as a lack of options. Sometimes it holds it because it is asking for help. Despite the fact, I know better. I know what my body needs, it needed to remind me and I was able to deliver it.
