Iam 36.
Ive been pregnant one time.
Unfortunately, I have a condition called PCOS.
PCOS stands for Polycystic O***y Syndrome. It’s a hormonal condition that affects how the ovaries work and is one of the most common causes of hormonal imbalance and fertility challenges in women.
At its core, PCOS involves an imbalance in hormones, especially higher levels of androgens (often called “male hormones,” though all women have them). This imbalance can interfere with ovulation, which is why many people with PCOS have irregular periods or skip periods altogether. As a jit I would have two periods sometimes one a year that could last for ages. Some, like myself may develop small fluid-filled sacs on the ovaries, though you don’t have to have cysts to be diagnosed with PCOS.
PCOS affects Black women in some distinct and often overlooked ways. Research shows Black women are just as likely, and in some cases more likely, to have PCOS, but are often diagnosed later (I was like 27 when I found out). Symptoms like excess hair growth, acne, or irregular cycles are sometimes normalized or dismissed, leading to delays in care. Weight bias and racial bias in healthcare can also mean symptoms are attributed solely to weight rather than investigated hormonally.
Black women with PCOS are more likely to experience insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular issues. The metabolic side of PCOS tends to be more severe, which makes early diagnosis and lifestyle support especially important. There is also a higher risk of mental health impacts such as anxiety, depression, and body image challenges, often compounded by cultural silence around hormonal and reproductive health.
Another key factor is stress. Chronic stress, including racial stress and systemic inequities, can worsen hormonal imbalance and inflammation, which may intensify PCOS symptoms. Limited access to holistic care, nutrition education, and hormone-informed providers can further widen the gap in outcomes. After I learned I had PCOS I started yoni steaming. When I returned to the doctor for more imaging scans all 3 cyst were gone. I dissolved them from steaming. Doctors may argue there is no evidence to support yoni steaming. However, Iam the evidence.
PCOS is manageable, and many women regulate their cycles, improve symptoms, and conceive if they choose. Support often includes blood sugar regulation, anti-inflammatory nutrition, movement that supports hormones, stress reduction, and sometimes medication or supplements depending on the individual.
So PLEASE stop asking me when I’ll have more kids. It’s high key RUDE as hell. My body is set up different and it isn’t as easy as it is for most. My body is waiting on my husband. A man that will be in full support as miracles father was and Im perfectly ok with that. I wasn’t destined to be just a baby momma. With all that being said- HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY TO MY ANGEL BABY!!! The kid I carried full term just to lose her while having her. The one that pushed me to start my holistic care business.
Think about it. When I had my brick and mortar I was constantly posting success stories of women that were trying to conceive for years but couldnt til I intervened with my “Get me pregnant program.” Do you know how many families I’ve been able to bless with my brand? It’s too many for me to count now. Literally. I sold hope with only a mix of herbs. There are baby miracle babies all across the US and one even overseas.
In honor of MIRACLE DETRICE SLAUGHTER my entire site is $12.12. Happy birthday princess. Your legacy lives on. 🐐 👑
