On June 20th, Dr. Mustafa Al-Kawaaz graduated from the LIAM Program (Leadership and Innovation in Academics Matter).

The mission of the LIAM program is to develop the next generation of leaders at UofL by teaching them the skills needed first to lead themselves, then lead with others and finally, lead an organization. Faculty members enroll in an 11-month training program that includes regular discussions and the capstone team projects.

LIAM originally was designed as a program for faculty in the School of Medicine, but has evolved quickly to include faculty members across the university."

Congratulations, Dr. Al-Kawaaz, we are so proud of you!

Dr. Roland Valdes has been selected for the 2025 North American Chinese Clinical Chemists Association (NACCCA) Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine!

His award will be presented at the 45th NACCCA Annual Banquet in the presence of their members, collaborators, and esteemed guests.

Dr. Hunter Miller’s co-authored abstract titled “Automation of serum protein immunofixation electrophoresis interpretation with artificial intelligence (AI)” was selected among the top 9 highest-rated submissions within the Data Science and Informatics Division and will be included in the self-guided poster walk and the DSI poster session happy hour at the ADLM Annual Meeting. Authors are Hunter Miller, Bayan Alquran, Morgan McCoy, Tayyeb Ayyoubi, Dibson Gondim and Mark Linder. Congrats to everyone involved!
