We want to take a moment to honor our friend, Dr. Mostafa Fraig, who sadly passed away on February 5, 2021. Dr. Fraig joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in July 2010 as the William M. Christopherson Professor and Director of Anatomic Pathology, as well as Professor of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He came to us from the John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland where he was Director of Cytopathology and Associate Director of Surgical Pathology. We still miss having Dr. Fraig around but his memory lives on in everyone who was blessed to know him.

Good things come to those who wait! On December 4th, UofL Health invited their employees to the West Tower Grand Opening! This is a huge win for the community, providing more care and increased access to those in need. More info here:

UofL Health has brought downtown Louisville more quality care and increased access with the expansion of the new UofL Hospital West Tower. UofL Hospital’s West Tower includes a new 24-bed observation unit, six additional operating rooms as well as the option for more private beds.

Residency Supervisor, Latosha Cowherd and Fellowship Coordinator, Alma Nieto, attended the Annual GME Holiday Party! Latosha won the Graduate Medical Education Coordinator of the YEAR Award!!! This honor is well-deserved and took many long hours of hard work and dedication! Alma won both Christmas games because she doesn’t mess around! Way to go, ladies! We are proud of you!
