Let's talk about stress...

Last week I had to reschedule my entire week of clients, if you were on that list, I truly apologize. I have been super blessed to have many amazing training opportunities in the last month, in fact 3 trips. With these blessings also comes a level of stress, my mom-heart has a really hard time leaving my family. Two flights to Florida and a drive to Atlanta (Atlanta during rush hour alone is enough to trigger a cortisol dump) were a bit more than my body could handle. The blessings ended with my mom and two of my sisters arriving on Sunday after I returned from my Florida trip. Again - all wonderful opportunities but the combination resulted in my body deciding I had had enough.
The result?

Stress rash — red, itchy, inflamed skin that flares when your body’s overwhelmed. Now the rash flared on a full moon weekend so you know I was sure it was parasites!! This is where the muscle testing comes in...stress not parasites.

My skin was speaking. But was I listening? Not at first, I had to go to work, I had already been out of the office for travel, I couldn’t stay home…This is where we all need our mom, it was because of my mom’s prodding that I decided I needed to reschedule my week and let my nervous system calm down.

So what was happening in my body? A cortisol dump.
💥 What Is a Cortisol Dump?
A cortisol dump is a sudden surge of the stress hormone cortisol released by your adrenal glands in response to intense or prolonged stress. It’s your body’s way of preparing to fight, flee, or freeze.
🧠 Why It Happens:
Your brain detects a threat (physical, emotional, or perceived), and signals your adrenals to flood your body with cortisol to help you react quickly.
🧠 Takeaway:
A cortisol dump is your body’s high-alert system kicking in — but when it happens too often, it can wear you down, affect your immune system, skin, hormones, and mood.

🧠 How Stress Can Show Up on Your Skin
High stress = high cortisol.
Too much cortisol can:
✨ Disrupt your immune system
🔥 Trigger histamine (hello, hives & itching)
🧷 Weaken your skin barrier
⚡ Put your nervous system on high alert

What did I learn?
~It's OK to breath and take a moment.
~Even good stress is stress and can trigger a stress response in the body.
~I already knew this - but muscle testing is an amazing tool to get to the root cause if issues.
