Meet Dr. Eddie Shields from our Little Rock division! Like many of you all, he was once an allergy shot patient, which helped him realize he wanted to give the same kind of help to others when he started his career. Thank you, Dr. Shields, for continuing to inspire your patients and peers!

Meet Eddie Shields, MD! He is one of four incredible allergists at Arkansas Allergy & Asthma Clinic. ⚕️ Like so many others, Dr. Shields was once an allergy shots patient at AAAC. 💉 This planted the seed for his goal to become an allergist! 🌱 If you see Dr. Shields, make sure to say hello to him and thank him for the hard work he's given for AAAC and each of his patients! Was exercise your new years resolution? 🏃 If so, we highly encourage you to keep it up! Though asthmatics may worry about exercising too hard, it is very important for your overall health to do - and it's even helpful for your asthma! 🫁 If you're worried about exercising and exacerbating your asthma, some tips we have include -
• Warm up before exercise.
• Avoid exercise in cold weather - spend your winter exercise sessions at the gym!
• Keep a rescue inhaler on hand.

📣 Illinois patients! Have you met our new doctor, Joshua Brownell? He began at Family Allergy & Asthma a few months ago, and we're excited to see what is ahead!

Dr. Brownell completed his fellowship in Allergy/Immunology in 2024 at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI; and he completed his fellowship in Internal Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He received Doctor of Medicine at the University of Illinois in 2017. His publications have appeared in numerous health journals, his most recent one exploring the risk of respiratory illnesses and wheezing in children with farm exposure.

🎄 Family Allergy & Asthma presents another Christmas Q&A! This time, we answer: can live Christmas trees cause allergies? 🤧 The answer is yes, but not for the reason you may think. Christmas tree pollen isn't as likely to trigger allergies as the mold that gets carried in from outside. But the good news is, this can be fixed with a simple wash of the tree! 🚿 Just hose your tree down and let it dry, and it shouldn't bother you!
