The theme for the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT) 2026 is “At the heart of democracy.” Developed through extensive consultations with regional and global LGBTQIA+ networks worldwide, the 2026 IDAHOBIT theme serves as a powerful reminder that the soil of truly democratic societies must be rich in meaningful equity and justice for all, fostering the flourishing of the entire community.

First celebrated in 2005, the Day has grown into a truly global community moment. Every year, individuals, organizations, and governments celebrate the day with initiatives, events, and campaigns in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ people, demanding action to ensure they can exercise their rights.

May is ; paying tribute to the people who care for more than two million veterans is an important part of supporting troops and military families. But for some, it's also about recognizing the work they do that qualifies them as caregivers even if they don't think of themselves that way.

They are spouses, parents, children, and relatives of the wounded veteran, but many coworkers, neighbors, and friends also take on responsibilities. They provide care and assistance, promoting faster recovery for their loved ones.

AWC also provides many services to our Veterans who need home care and extra care. If you, or you know a Veteran who needs support, we can help: https://nuvi.me/r0e9o1

Today, we want to celebrate Branch Manager Tonya Pabum on her 10th year with All Ways Caring. Tonya has become a cornerstone of the Opelousas operation and a trusted resource throughout the Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma region, naming her the Legacy Award Winner for our 2025 Personal Care Divisional Awards.

Tonya builds culture through presence. She organizes team-building events, trains and mentors new staff members, and makes herself available to branch managers across multiple states who count on her for guidance and expertise. She has participated in pilot programs for important internal systems and most recently took on the formal role of Branch Manager Mentor, helping to welcome and develop new managers from across the country. Every room she walks into, she brings knowledge, experience, and representation.

That spirit of connection extends to the communities her branches serve. By staying engaged at every level, from answering phones to meeting directly with clients and caregivers, Tonya ensures that the people her teams support receive consistent, dignified care. Colleagues feel her steady presence and know they are not working alone.

Congratulations, Tonya, on 10 remarkable years. Your communication, collaboration, and commitment to every person around you is a reflection of what leadership truly looks like. Because of your dedication, colleagues are supported, and individuals receive the care they deserve.

The Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC) is pleased to announce the May 2026 Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month theme, “Power in Unity: Strengthening Communities Together.”

This year’s theme highlights the importance of leveraging our collective power, telling our stories, and being bridge builders in our communities. The imagery of the bridge in this year’s artwork inspires us to unite in our common causes. Bridges represent many values that are prevalent in AANHPI communities - innovation, resilience, hard work, connection, and a sense of belonging. FAPAC invites you to join us this May to honor the AANHPI leaders who inspire us to work collaboratively and embolden the next generation to build on their legacies.
