A lot of names were called this past week for the NFL Draft. One name we didn’t hear that should’ve been called was Kyren Lacy. Kyren took his own life after an argument with his family 2 weeks before the draft.
From the outside looking in, we think why would he do that after living a life most people would kill for? Like a lot of people struggling Kyren carried around very heavy burdens. He was wrongly prosecuted in December for negligent homicide, his NFL Rookie card revoked, relationship issues, etc. This man worked his whole life to live out his dream and was falsely accused of causing the accident.
He had an altercation/argument with his family on the night of April 12th that ultimately lead to his su***de. The people that loved and supported him most. His biggest cheerleaders. It’s devastating. Kyren discharged one shot at the floor during the argument. His family in a panic called 911. Kyren ran from the police and ended his life prior to crashing.
Kyrens death has nothing to do with the altercation, and everything to do with his burdens. Had Kyren not been falsely accused of negligent homicide and ran through the muck this likely would’ve been a routine police call and not provoked this reaction. The weight of the thought of one more legal case 2 weeks before the draft was too much to handle to him.
Moral of the story is we never know how much weight others are carrying mentally. Even the smallest amount of hate, disrespect, gossiping, or insult, can be enough to push someone over the edge. This is why kindness is so important. The Bible says there is power of life or death in the tongue. Speak life into others. For people that relate more to Kyrens side of the story reach out!
