The Clothing Assistance Program will host some bonus giveaways for JCPS families now through the end of the school year on select Wednesdays. The first event will be offered on Wed., May 6.

This event will offer 80 families an opportunity to visit our warehouse and browse tables and racks of gently used and new clothing and accessories for infant/toddler, children, teens, and adults. This will be a bonus event and will not count as one of a families' two annual visits. This allows families to gather additional clothing for growing children and changing seasons.

To participate, you must have a CAP appointment on that day. To get an appointment, please reach out to your school's Family Resource and Youth Services Center (FRYSC) coordinator.

To enter, a family must be on the confirmed list of appointments that day. We are unable to accommodate walk-ins.

Did you know…some of the biggest risk factors for childhood trauma are more common in Kentucky than the national average?

Substance use in the home, a caregiver’s mental illness, or family incarceration are all ACEs that children of Kentucky have a higher risk of exposure to.

Child neglect and abuse is preventable. WE ALL have a role to play in keeping the kids of Kentucky safe. The first step to end abuse and neglect of children is knowledge and education of our communities.

The rates for this are even higher in Kentucky. Among the confirmed cases, neglect, sexual abuse, and physical abuse are the most prevalent.

The group at highest risk are infants (less than a year old). Neglect is not always visible, but deeply impactful.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Childhood Traumatic Stress is an intense situation where a person’s safety or own life is threatened. These events are overwhelming and too much for their mind to handle, leaving the person powerless.

This occurs when children and adolescents are exposed to traumatic situations and this event overwhelms them, inhibiting their ability to cope with what they have just experienced.
