Pain doesn’t just affect your body.

It affects your confidence.

I worked with a woman in her 50s who had become so fearful of movement that she only wanted to do isometrics.

And honestly? That made sense.

When pain has interrupted your life long enough, your nervous system starts associating movement with threat.

But eventually, she hit a plateau.

Because strength isn’t just about holding still—it’s also about learning to control movement.

The breakthrough came when we progressed slowly.

Not random movement.
Not rushing through reps.
Not “pushing through.”

Instead, she learned how to carry the muscle awareness she built through isometrics into movement.

For the first time, she wasn’t just counting reps.

She was actually feeling muscles contract.
Stabilizing weak links.
Moving with intention.

That’s when everything changed.

If pain has made you afraid to move, the answer may not be doing less.

It may be progressing in the right order.

I truly believed I would never get better.

After my knee surgery, I couldn’t:

* Walk down stairs
* Sit on the floor
* Teach
* Work out

And for someone whose life was movement…
that was devastating.

I did everything I was told:
Rest. Ice. Rehab exercises.

But deep down, I kept thinking:
👉 “Why isn’t this working?”

So I reached out to someone I trusted—David Swenson.

I was expecting a plan. A fix. An answer.

Instead, he said:
“You’ll figure it out.”

And honestly?
I was frustrated.

But that moment…
was the beginning of everything.

Because it forced me to stop searching for a quick fix—
and start understanding how the body actually works.

👉 That injury became my greatest teacher.
👉 It led me to rethink exercise completely.
👉 And it’s what eventually became the foundation of my method.
