Wishing a winning -- and more importantly, a safe and healthy -- New Year to you and our extended family of KY horsemen and their staffs across the country as well as our horse owners and horseplayers across America who are the underpinning of horse racing. We can't do this without you, and we never take that for granted. Everyone have a safe New Year's Eve/Day and see you at the races in 2026! (Gwen Davis/Davis Innovation graphic)

Horse racing is a large industry in the Sunshine State, worth well over $13 billion. Some experts, however, say the sport is at an inflection point. While so many of us have today and tomorrow off, we should never take for granted all our hard-working men and women who will be at the barn caring for our horses. Be safe everyone, and have a blessed holiday season.

Behind every racehorse are men and women who adore them, even if they may not be fast. These are Claiming Crown winners (📸Coady Media), but there's the same pride (OK similar, anyway) if they win for $10,000 vs. $100,000+. And regardless where they finish or at what level they competed, these are the men and women who go back to the barn and take care of their horses after a race. For this Thanksgiving: We salute the men and women of the backstretch who are working while we're feasting and betting horse racing & football. And let's all remember those behind the scenes working every holiday, every weekend to keep us safe: First responders & law enforcement, medical staff, the military. Let's don't appreciate them only on Thanksgiving but every day of the week!

We are an affiliate with the National HBPA, which was established in 1940, and represents approximately 30,000 owners and trainers in 23 states and Canada. The Kentucky HBPA is governed by a board of directors consisting of owners and trainers volunteering their time and elected by the Kentucky membership every three years.
