March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month 💙

This year’s theme, “We’re Here: Then, Now, Always,” is a powerful reminder that individuals with developmental disabilities have always been an important part of our communities, and always will be.

At Family Health Centers, we’re proud to support inclusive, accessible care for every patient, every day. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live, learn, work, and thrive in a community that values their contributions.

This month and all year long we celebrate the voices, experiences, and strengths of individuals with developmental disabilities while continuing to break down barriers to care and connection.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month 💙

Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers—but only if it’s caught early.

Recent research shows a concerning rise in cases among younger adults, making awareness, prevention, and early screening more important than ever.

Family Health Centers is proud to be part of the solution through our partnership with Vanderbilt University’s Southern Environmental Health Study. This research is helping uncover how everyday environmental exposures may impact cancer risk—and how we can build healthier communities together.

Here’s how you can take action:
✔ Talk to your provider about screening (recommended starting at age 45 for most adults)
✔ Learn more about your personal risk
✔ Consider participating in the Southern Environmental Health Study

Participants can now enroll between ages 30–70 and may receive compensation for their time.

Your health matters—not just for you, but for the people who count on you.

Family Health Centers was honored be with Rep. Morgan McGarvey for a recent visit to Sun Valley Community Center focused on improving access to care for our community.

During his time with us, McGarvey met with patients and seniors to discuss the impact of the newly passed “Cutting Copays Act,” which will help eliminate out-of-pocket costs for many Medicare Part D recipients. This important step means more Kentuckians can access the medications they need—without the financial burden.

At Family Health Centers, we see firsthand how access to affordable care changes lives. We’re grateful for leaders who prioritize the health and well-being of our patients and communities.

Together, we’re working toward a healthier Kentucky—one visit, one patient, and one policy at a time.
