Mr. Kiesner was admitted to our facility on Friday after a short hospital stay, and we quickly learned about someone very special in his life 🐴 — his horse, Rio! When he asked if Rio could come visit him during therapy, we were honored to help make it possible. ❤️

Rio is a retired rodeo pick-up horse. 🏇 He moved to Tennessee with Mr. Kiesner and his family 3 years ago. They’ve been partners for 26 years, sharing a truly special bond. These days, Rio has an important new role. He “babysits” young horses destined for the rodeo, helping teach them how to be calm, confident, and well-trained. Mr. Kiesner's love for Rio runs deep. He even keeps a notebook filled with beautiful sketches he’s drawn of him over the years. 📕✍️

Did you know that about 1.1 million people in the United States are living with Parkinson's disease (PD)? 🌷

🧠 This progressive brain disorder is perhaps most well known for causing tremors, but other symptoms include loss of vocal volume, sleep disruptions, stiffness, and balance issues, among others.

Thankfully, there are ways to improve Parkinson's symptoms! 😀 Our therapy team offers rehabilitation services to help improve mobility, range of motion, function, and speech for those living with PD. Call us to see how we can support you or your loved one.

Laura came to us after having a total knee replacement, which left her needing assistance with walking, balancing, and bed mobility. After therapy, Laura is now completely independent in all of these areas! Way to go, Laura! 👏💙

Caye came to us needing substantial assistance with walking and other daily activities after hip and wrist fractures. Now that she's completed therapy, she's regained the ability to walk independently and has made major improvements to her balance! 👏 We're so proud of you, Caye! ❤️

What does Occupational Therapy look like❓

It looks like someone practicing how to button a shirt again. 👔 Rebuilding the strength and dexterity to hold a coffee cup. ☕ Rehearsing the motions to prepare a simple meal and learning to use a reacher to safely pick things up without bending 🫳.

During Occupational Therapy Month, we’re celebrating the amazing therapists who help our rehab patients rebuild confidence, independence, and the skills that make daily life meaningful. 🫶
