At Louisville Center for Eating Disorders, we collect and monitor outcome data to understand how people are actually doing over time not just whether they’re showing up.

That means we look at:
- Symptom severity
- Medical indicators
- Daily functioning and quality of life

Why? Because you deserve treatment where:
- Progress is defined clearly
- Plans can be adjusted based on what’s working (and what isn’t)
- Recovery is possible is a measurable statement, not just a slogan

Your experience matters 🤲. The numbers help us honor and support it more precisely. Take a look at our treatment outcomes here: https://www.louisvillecenterforeatingdisorders.com/intensive-outpatient-information/treatment-outcomes/

You don’t have to wait until you “check every box” on a diagnostic list to take your eating concerns seriously.

Disordered eating can look like:
- Constantly changing food rules
- Avoiding events because of what might be served
- Exercising to “earn” or “undo” eating
- Intense guilt or shame after eating

Over time, patterns like these can develop into full eating disorders; or they may already be there, even if you’re not sure.(women's health mag)

If food and body thoughts are taking up more space in your life than you want them to, that’s reason enough to reach out. You don’t have to wait until things get “bad enough” to deserve help. Contact us now: https://www.louisvillecenterforeatingdisorders.com/contact-us/

Presidents' Day often focuses on big leadership and big decisions.
Here’s a quieter reminder: you don’t have to be the “president” of everything in your life all the time.

At Louisville Center for Eating Disorders, recovery is a team effort: therapists, dietitians, medical providers, group members, and loved ones all play a part. You don’t have to lead this one by yourself.

This Presidents' Day, consider this your permission slip to stop managing it all alone and to ask what support could look like for you. 🎇💖

Valentine’s Day can feel sweet, complicated, or like just another day on the calendar. However it lands for you this year, here’s your reminder:

You are loved.
You are not a burden.
You don’t have to have it all figured out to deserve care.

At Louisville Center for Eating Disorders, we’re here when you’re ready, whether that’s now, soon, or “I’m just gathering information.” 💗

Today we’re celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science by highlighting our own scientist-practitioner, Dr. Skyler Mitchell, Psy.D., Clinical Director at Louisville Center for Eating Disorders.

The treatments we use for eating disorders don’t come from guesswork, they come from years of research, data, and clinicians who stay curious. Dr. Mitchell’s work sits at the intersection of science and care: bringing evidence-based approaches into real people’s lives every day.

To every girl and woman who loves questions, data, and figuring out how things work, there is a place for you in science, psychology, and eating disorder research. And to those already doing this work: thank you for helping move treatment forward for our community.

Did you know there’s an option between once-a-week therapy and full-time hospitalization? Intensive Outpatient (IOP) is a level of care for people who need more structure and support than standard outpatient, but who can still safely live at home and keep some pieces of their daily routine.

At Louisville Center for Eating Disorders, IOP typically includes:

👉 Several hours of programming on multiple days per week
👉 Group therapy, individual work, and dietitian support
👉 Meal or snack support
👉 Coordination with medical and psychiatric providers

It’s built for the in-between space: when an eating disorder is taking over more of your life, but you don’t want (or need) to step completely away from school, work, or family. Get to know your options here: https://www.louisvillecenterforeatingdisorders.com/intensive-outpatient-information/

For many people, the eating disorder is only part of the picture.

Research shows that a large majority of people with an eating disorder also live with at least one other mental health condition often anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma-related concerns, or substance use.

At Louisville Center for Eating Disorders, we don’t pretend you can neatly separate these issues. Our team is trained to treat eating disorders and co-occurring conditions, with therapists, prescribers, and dietitians working together.

Your care plan should match your actual life, not just one diagnosis code. Check our care services here: https://www.louisvillecenterforeatingdisorders.com/

Black History Month is a time to honor Black lives, stories, and impact, including the stories that don’t get talked about enough. Eating disorders are one of them.

Black people do experience eating disorders. They also experience higher odds of being misdiagnosed, overlooked, or told their concerns are “just about weight,” “just stress,” or “not that serious.” When the stereotype of an eating disorder doesn’t include Black bodies, Black people are less likely to be screened, taken seriously, or referred to specialty care.

We are here, ready for you! 🖤

Headaches can have lots of causes, stress, illness, screens, life.

But when headaches show up alongside changes in eating, purging, overexercise, big swings in blood sugar, or dehydration, they can also be a sign that your body isn’t getting what it needs. Eating disorders affect the whole body, including the brain, and medical issues like electrolyte shifts and low nutrition can show up as headaches, dizziness, and “foggy” thinking.

At Louisville Center for Eating Disorders provides eating-disorder–specific PHP, IOP, and outpatient care in Kentucky. You don’t have to sort out whether this is “serious enough” on your own.
