SOS In so doing, SOS succeeds in improving healthcare for the poor and underserved around the world, including in our own region.

SOS improves healthcare access for those in need locally and around the world by collecting surplus medical supplies from healthcare systems and using the items to save lives rather than going into landfills. SOS is a Louisville, KY based humanitarian aid organization that promotes global health, environmental stewardship, and community awareness through the efficient recovery and responsible distribution of surplus medical supplies and equipment. SOS is one of only 7 accredited medical surplus recovery organizations in the U.S.

When we say hands on, we mean HANDS ON! 🙌🏼

Thank you to this crew from Louisville Central High School‘s HOSA program who brought the best energy while sorting supplies at our warehouse this week!

Not only does this impact the lives of those we serve here and around the world - it also provides an opportunity for local Allied health students to get better acquainted with supplies and equipment they’ll use in their future careers.

SOS was honored to receive infant incubators and infant warmers from Memorial Hospital West with Memorial Healthcare System in Florida — a partner we’ve proudly worked with in the past.

In many developing communities, reliable thermal care simply isn’t available. For premature and low-birth-weight newborns, access to an incubator or warmer can mean the difference between life and death.

We’re so grateful for our partners who trust SOS to place life-saving equipment where it’s needed most, advancing maternal and neonatal health around the world. 💛

180 patients in just two days! SOS was proud to support a recent medical mission trip to Cuba with 50 pounds of critical medical supplies — including gloves, dressings, sutures, IV materials, syringes, eyeglasses, and more.

In just two clinic days, the team provided exams, joint injections, and essential screenings for 180 individuals. Remaining supplies were donated to local clinics and a hospital, extending the impact even beyond the trip.

Thank you for helping SOS strengthen healthcare access and equip those serving communities around the world. 🌎💙

A container of hope is on its way to Myanmar — and it marks an important milestone: the first SOS shipment to the country!

More than $288,000 worth of medical supplies and equipment will support a hospital that serves 15,000–20,000 patients each year, where the greatest needs are in obstetrics, surgery, and primary care. These resources will help providers deliver safer births, perform essential procedures, respond to emergencies, and care for families who might otherwise go without treatment.

Shipping to Myanmar comes with significant restrictions and logistical challenges, but through SOS’s expertise, careful planning, and new partnerships on the ground, this lifesaving delivery became possible.

This is more than a container. It’s health and hope reaching one more underserved community in the world.💙

Our CEO Denise Sears recently visited our partner Post Clinic in Mt. Sterling, meeting with Director Dr. Tonya Kendrick and seeing firsthand the incredible work happening there.

This clinic provides free medical and dental care to individuals and families with limited financial means — and the need is significant. In just the past six months, Post Clinic has cared for 1,123 patients from 23 counties.

SOS is proud to support this vital community resource with donated medical supplies that help expand their reach and capacity.

As Dr. Kendrick shared: “We are so grateful for the donated medical supplies from SOS. You are giving us the capacity to see more patients in need.”

SOS Saves Lives Locally and Globally

SOS is a Global Health Organization based in Louisville, KY. We provide medical supplies and health resources to hospitals, clinics and social service organizations in impoverished communities locally and globally. SOS partners with over 100 U.S. hospitals and medical institutions to recover surplus medical supplies and equipment. SOS saves over 500,000 pounds of supplies a year from going to landfills, which protects soil, water and air quality. The supplies are then redistributed to medically impoverished communities worldwide through SOS’s Global Health Program, and to local social service agencies, animal welfare organizations, and medical education institutions through SOS’s Local Health Program.

SOS has been nationally recognized for best practice and highest ethics and is one of only nine accredited medical surplus recovery organizations in the U.S. For more information call 502-736-6360 or visit: http://www.soshealthandhope.org.
