🌿 Meet Kellyann Sparks — a passionate h**p entrepreneur who has been helping grow Kentucky’s h**p industry since 2015. From becoming a KDA-approved grower alongside her husband Tim Sparks to building Kentucky Gold CBD, Kellyann has dedicated her work to educating others about the benefits and potential of h**p and CBD.

Through years of hands-on experience in cultivation, processing, consulting, and advocacy, she has helped connect farmers, support industry growth, and provide Kentucky-grown, third-party tested CBD products to customers across the country.

A newly advanced draft of the 2026 U.S. Farm Bill could significantly impact the future of h**p production across the country.

The proposal would:
✔️ Ease some compliance requirements for h**p grown specifically for fiber and grain
✔️ Create a separate regulatory lane for “industrial h**p”
✔️ Increase documentation and verification requirements for growers
✔️ Shift h**p testing to a “total THC” standard—tightening rules for cannabinoid production
✔️ Leave the upcoming federal crackdown on h**p-derived THC products unchanged

Arthritis is not just wear and tear. It is a communication failure driven by chronic inflammation, immune overactivity, and constant pain signaling that never gets a proper shutoff switch. This is where the ECS, our Master Regulator, becomes impossible to ignore. The ECS governs inflammatory response, pain perception, immune balance, and tissue recovery. When it is depleted or overwhelmed, joints suffer first and loudest.

CBD and CBG approach arthritis differently, and that distinction matters. CBD acts as a powerful regulator of inflammation. It does not numb pain in the way pharmaceuticals do. Instead, it calms cytokine signaling, reduces oxidative stress, and slows the inflammatory cascade that eats away at cartilage and connective tissue. CBD also interacts with TRPV channels involved in pain signaling, helping turn down the volume without shutting the system off.

CBG works more upstream. It supports immune balance and helps regulate inflammatory enzymes before they spiral out of control. CBG also interacts with alpha-2 adrenergic receptors, which play a role in pain modulation, and it supports the control of gut inflammation, which matters more than most realize. Many arthritis patients carry underlying gut-driven inflammation that, over time, feeds joint damage. CBG helps stabilize that loop.

A landmark study that clearly demonstrated CBD’s arthritis potential, “Transdermal cannabidiol reduces inflammation and pain-related behaviours in a rat model of arthritis” was published in 2016

This study showed that CBD significantly reduced joint swelling, inflammatory markers, and pain related behaviors without psychoactive effects. No tolerance. No organ toxicity. No immune suppression. Just regulation doing what it is supposed to do.

What this tells us is important. Cannabinoids do not override the body. They remind it how to regulate itself. Arthritis is not solved by silencing pain alone. It improves when inflammation is controlled, immune signaling is corrected, and tissue is allowed to recover instead of being constantly attacked.

CBD cools the fire. CBG stabilizes the terrain. Together, they support ECS balance in a way that pharmaceuticals cannot replicate without collateral damage.

This is why many patients find relief when nothing else worked. Not because arthritis disappeared overnight, but because the body finally received the signals it had been missing.

That is not alternative medicine. That is biological cooperation.

This week, Ma*****na Moment highlighted KYHA’s letter to Senator Mitch McConnell, signed by 58 independent Kentucky farmers. In it, we warn that any move to recriminalize h**p-derived cannabinoids would have catastrophic consequences for farms, families, and rural communities.

Kentucky farmers have made real investments — planting under the legal framework of the 2018 Farm Bill, securing contracts, and building a sustainable future. We support responsible regulation with testing, labeling, and age limits. But outright prohibition is not the answer.

We are proud of what we grow. We are proud to be building a domestic supply chain. And we will continue to advocate for policies that protect our harvest and keep Kentucky’s h**p market strong.
