Healthy Beginnings Connect Us (HBCU) is a community-led Healthy Start
program working to reduce infant mortality, close birth outcome gaps, and build
equitable systems of care—by and for those most impacted. Our program is led
primarily by former participants, making us a trusted bridge between lived
experience and systemic change.
Why It Matters
Louisville’s infant mortality rate for Black babies is over twice that of white
babies.
Families face systemic barriers to culturally responsive and affirming care.
When families are centered, respected, and supported, outcomes shift.
This event is about more than dollars—it’s about dignity.
