Did George Washington Have Wooden Teeth?

We cannot tell a lie: George Washington's false teeth weren't made out of wood, though the materials actually used weren't all that appealing either.

No U.S. president ever had wooden teeth; the popular story that George Washington wore wooden dentures is a myth. Washington suffered from severe dental problems and wore4 sets of, dentures made from materials like ivory (elephant and walrus), gold, lead and even real human teeth, which became stained over time to look like wood.

The Reality: Washington's dentures were complex, uncomfortable and often repaired by dentist John Greenwood.

Source of the Myth: The ivory in his dentures became stained and cracked over time, making them appear to be wooden.

Dental Issues: By his 1789 inauguration, Washington had only one working tooth left.

Evidence: The dentures, which included materials such as hippopotamus ivory and cow teeth, are on display at the Mount Vernon estate.

While Dr Griffin was walking with Max The Dental Dog on the Scenic Loop in Cherokee Park Halloween afternoon they came upon a lovely couple having a wedding ceremony at Dog Hill, aka Baringer Hill.
Continuing on their walk they got to have a personal encounter with the newlyweds.
A beautiful experience in our beloved Cherokee Park.
