It is my opinion that all humans living today need to hold a mirror up to their misogyny. It’s often referred to as internalized misogyny/sexism in women. Our parents, their parents, their parent’s parents learned then taught us to survive the way they know. Perhaps we had a bad ass parent who broke generational trauma barriers so we did not have to. Or perhaps we had fathers who couldn’t stand the sound of women’s voices. Either way it’s on us to explore how and why we look to men to validate our worth and identify the thoughts that lead to harming women and those who do not identify as cisgender men.
I have found this work to be effective in comforting the inner child, increasing self esteem, improving relationships, and much more. My hope is you find this peace with yourself and others as well

Regarding recent updates to the CDC's website, APA reiterates the fact that vaccines do not cause autism, and that claims of any such association have been repeatedly discredited in peer reviewed studies.

I hear and see messages stating “be kind” everywhere, however when encouraging others to be kind to themselves there’s a disconnect. Why might this be?
In my opinion as a therapist for almost 20 years there are two possibilities:
1. The weird idea that self care is selfish
2. Many women and or those assigned female at birth have been taught to hate themselves and those like them (so everyone who doesn’t identify as a cisgender man). This message is ingrained in our social constructs blended with misogyny and white supremacy.
I’m working to smash the patriarchy by being kinder to myself because what better way to p**s off the oppressors than to love what they hate about me?
Join me and start using this affirmation today

Don’t let them take your power; keep speaking the truth and standing for what’s equal, kind, and right. Voice your discontent with injustices not just here in the US but all over the world. Use your rights to vote, peacefully protest, and disagree with oppressors. Support those who are moving in the same direction as you even if they show up differently. Use your energy wisely; spend time with those who feel safe and bring you peace. Most of all, live in your truth.

What a beast grief is! In my opinion the two most difficult experiences we face in life are grief and trauma. Both bring an array of mental health difficulties that we may assume are separate but are in fact part of the whole of these experiences. It’s difficult to figure this out on our own but something grief and trauma specialists are trained and experienced to aid with.
Most of us will experience both grief and trauma (sometimes both together) within our lifetimes and some of us will have many experiences.
Both can knock us on our asses even though we have to continue doing all the day to day living things.
Please remember you are not broken, even though everything in you says you are. Be gracious and patient with yourself. Reach out to those who care for you. Schedule with your therapist. You are worth the time.
I’ve been there, I see you.
