Pt. 2 introducing the AKPT girls 👋

⭐️ Meet Dr. Kelli Jones ⭐️

✨ Kelli was born and raised in Louisville. She earned her Bachelors degree in Exercise Science from University of Louisville in 2013 and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Bellarmine University in 2018. She currently works at University of Louisville Hospital specializing in acute trauma and critical care.

✨ She has been a member of since 2021 where she started powerlifting and fell in love with the sport. Since taking on patients at EA with Dr. Ashlee, she has taken over 30 hours in Integrative Dry Needling courses allowing her to diagnose and treat both muscular and neurological dysfunction from head to toe.

✨ Kelli truly believes in healing through movement - the best pill you’ll ever take. She spends her free time listening to every podcast on functional medicine she can find, wrangling her two pitbull pups, hiking in national parks, and seeing & learning from new countries. She hiked Half Dome in 2021, hiked the Incan trail to Machu Picchu in 2022, got married in Grand Teton National Park & honeymooned to every national park in Hawaii in 2023, and traveled all over Italy in 2024!

✨ Favorite lift: deadlifts - she doesn’t care how ugly it is, she’ll try and pull it. And anything high volume. 💪🏼
✨ Least favorite lift: squats (Per Coach Figg - it’s hard for giraffes to be able to squat correctly), and any near death experience above 90% (10/10 would rather do 100 reps).

✨ Fun fact: she travels out west every summer for a cattle drive, she always says her heart truly lies in the mountains.

We hope this let ya’ll get to know us a little better! AKPT is always here to answer any questions you may have about our treatment styles, skill sets, or even about what physical therapy has to offer you in general. We’re happy to help any way we can!

See y’all in the gym!

We know ya’ll know us as the AKPT duo - but now we feel like it’s time to tell you a little bit about ourselves!

⭐️ Meet Dr. Ashlee Erlandson PT, DPT, ATC ⭐️

✨ Otherwise known as the first half of AKPT!

✨ Ashlee grew up in Lebanon, Indiana and moved to Louisville in 2015. She graduated with her Bachelors in Athletic Training from the University of Indianapolis and earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Bellarmine University in 2018. She has taken multiple courses and received additional certifications in both vestibular therapy and dry needling. Ashlee works full time as a neuro inpatient rehab therapist here in Louisville specializing in strokes, brain injuries, and amputees.

✨ Ashlee has been a member of Everyday Athletes since 2021 and enjoys her training sessions with Coach Figg and her best friend Kelli Jones (the second half of our duo!). She apologizes to anyone who has had to hear her obnoxious valley girl laugh on Wednesday evenings during their weekly workouts.

✨ She has been very busy the past few months buying a 7 acre fam in Shelbyville and planning her wedding in Costa Rica set for February 2025! When she is not working her full time job, renovating her house, planning her wedding, or treating patients here at EA, she is probably sleeping. 💤

FUN FACTS:

✨ Ashlee’s hobbies include: anything water related, Taco Tuesdays, and traveling - she just returned from Italy in May!

✨ Favorite lift: squats
✨ Least favorite lift: anything that requires a strong grip (she has tiny baby hands) and lunges

Ashlee has such a broad range of skill sets applicable for any athlete at and we are more than lucky to have her! Make sure to visit our website to see all of the different treatments we have to offer or send us a DM if you have any questions for her!

See y’all in the gym! 💪🏼

✨ CUPPING THERAPY (and no - not the kind that involves a smooth winter lager 🍺 or your favorite 3pm latte order to get you through the work day ☕️)

✨ We’ve had lots of questions from our clients about our new cupping set! So we figured we would break it down for you real quick:

✨ First off: what IS cupping therapy? Although this is an intervention that seems super popular recently, it actually backdates thousands of years and was used throughout multiple ancient cultures.

✨ Cupping therapy involves the use of special cups on the skin to create a vacuum seal and suction. The tissue of the skin is drawn up into the cup, causing an increase in blood flow to the affected area.

✨ What’s it for? Cupping has multiple benefits! It’s a great way to facilitate the bodies natural detox processes. It is well known to reduce pain and inflammation, improve blood flow, facilitate healing, relieve tension, promote relaxation, and strengthen the immune system.

✨ Are there different types? Yes! There are different techniques and different purposes for each technique. You will see in our pictures the results of dry cupping, slide cupping, oil cupping, and flash cupping.

✨ And the most common question we get: is it as scary as it looks? Most definitely not! The skin reactions you see are completely normal and necessary for the treatment! But everyone reacts differently and every skin type will get a different response. However, much like dry needling and IASTM - the treatment process should be tolerable throughout! And discoloration and bruising fades relatively quickly as compared to a bruise of the same size from a blunt force injury.

✨ We highly recommend this treatment as a part of your recovery process as we BOTH personally use it often!

✨ Shoot us a DM if you have any more questions, we’d love to answer them!

✨ See y’all in the gym!
