April 8, 1940 - April 11, 2026

Augustus Calvin Beavers "Gus", 86 of Louisville transitioned on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Visitation 5-8pm Friday, April 17, 2026, at Community Missionary Baptist Church 4909 E. Indian Trail. Funeral 12 noon, Saturday, April 18, 2026 at his church. Burial 10am Monday, April 20, 2026 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens 4400 Bardstown Road.

Augustus Calvin Beavers, affectionately known as “Gus,” was born on April 8, 1940, in Lincoln, Alabama, to Nora Chatman Beavers and Oliver Beavers. He was the third of seven children.

Gus began his Christian journey at an early age at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Lincoln, Alabama. He attended Lincoln Elementary School and Talladega County Training School (now known as Lincoln High School). He later pursued trade school, where he developed his skills in masonry.

In the early 1950s, seeking better opportunities, Gus relocated to Louisville, Kentucky, following his sister and brother-in-law, Johnnie Mae and Willie James Montgomery. He began working in construction before securing employment with Ford Motor Company. Gus dedicated 30 years of service to Ford, working from June 10, 1970, until his retirement on June 10, 2000.

Shortly after moving to Louisville, Gus joined Community Missionary Baptist Church. He faithfully served on the Usher Board, was a member of the Men’s Culinary Committee, and was later appointed Men’s Day Chairman. Unfortunately, declining health prevented him from completing this role.

In his leisure time, Gus found joy in simple pleasures. He loved riding his bike through the neighborhood, watching Westerns, hunting, cooking, and was especially known as a grill master when it came to barbecue. He also had a passion for gardening, growing tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, okra, and green beans, and took pride in canning food to last through the winter. Sitting on his front porch, greeting neighbors as they passed by, reminded him of his cherished days in Alabama.

Gus was a God-fearing man whose life was marked by kindness, generosity, courage, humility, and integrity. Above all, he found his greatest joy in being with his family and helping others whenever he could.

On April 11, 2026, just three days after celebrating his 86th birthday, Gus answered God’s call from labor to eternal rest.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his daughters: Nadine Rogers (Jerry), Bridgette Beavers, Dana Beavers, and Megan Bell (Branden); his grandchildren: Alisha, Shawn, Cheyenne, Branden Jr., Kelvin, and Caidence; his right handman, Tyrone Wright; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
