January 12, 1936 - December 31, 2025

Naomi Hurt Hundley, 89, of Louisville transitioned on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 surrounded by family

Visitation 10-11am Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Funeral to follow at 11.

Naomi Hurt Hundley was born January 12, 1936 in Shelby County, Kentucky, to proud parents Alex and Anna Chambers. She was one of seven children, and was blessed to be raised with three "bonus" siblings.

"Noma", as she was affectionately called by her family, joined church at an early age. She was a long time active and very involved member of Hobbs Chapel Church in Anchorage, Kentucky. Whatever needed to be done in the church, Naomi could be depended on to step up to the plate and meet the needs of the church. When her health began to decline, it didn’t deter her from continuing to worship and give God the praise. She would tune into various church services on line.

Education was important to Naomi's family. Her early education started in Shelby County, Kentucky, and continued when she attended Lincoln Institute in Shelbyville (which is now called Whitney M. Young Job Corps).

Naomi was full of jokes and antics that kept everyone around her filled with a hearty laugh, happiness, and waiting for the next surprise she had for them. She was the life of the party, the center of attention, even though that was not what she intended to be. Everyone enjoyed being around her positive spirit.

Shopping and yard sales was an enjoyable hobby for Naomi. She could find stuff "goodies" at yard sales that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. As the saying goes, "One person's junk is another person's treasure." She also found enjoyment in watching wrestling - her favorite pastime.

Naomi was a woman of many skills. She was an excellent cook, and would often honor requests from family and friends, to make her mouth-watering Corn Pudding, and her famous Stewed Tomatoes.

Caring for others and doing for others was a passion for Naomi. That passion carried over into her employment as a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) at various locations. Her compassion for others was exemplified when she was a private assistant for many people. Serving others was in her blood.

Sadly, and with heavy hearts, Naomi Hurt Hundley, was fitted with her wings and ascended to Heaven on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky. She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter Vanessa Weatherford, and one son Glenn Hurt; 21 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Chambers, Betty Harris; one brother Perry Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; children, Sharon Daniels, James, Jeanette Cochran, Edward Ronnie Hurt, Deborah Hurt, Phillip Hurt; and siblings.

James Altoria "Pete" Davis, 65, of Amityville, NY, transitioned on Tuesday, December 27, 2025 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Visitation 2-3pm Sunday, January 4, 2026 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road Louisville , KY. Funeral will follow at 3pm.

James Altoria Davis was born May 8, 1960 in LaGrange, North Carolina to proud parents Yvonne Rose Curry and James Gilbert Davis.

He was a graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School in Louisville, Kentucky. James was employed at Nassau Chrome, located in Mineola, New York as a driver. He had been a dedicated employee of Nassau Chrome since 1991, and was known for his strong work ethic.

James may have worked diligently and gave his all to his job, but he still found time to enjoy his life and find relaxation. He enjoyed devouring a good steak, relaxing with his favorite television shows, and sipping on a cold Corona. While James, like all of us, had his flaws, he was ultimately a good man who loved deeply, and will be remembered for his heart, strength, and devotion to family.

James had a deep appreciation for music, especially the artistry of Prince. He counted his favorite songs to be Little Red Corvette, Raspberry Beret and Purple Rain, some of Prince’s most notable songs.

Sadly, and with heavy hearts, James Altoria Davis went to his eternal home on Saturday, December 27, 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky. He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Queta King of Louisville, KY, Crystal Davis of Amityville, New York, Tauree Davis of Paducah, KY, and Skyy Davis-Fitz (Daylann) of Bowling Green, KY; his youngest sister, Jane Mansfield Harris of Louisville, KY; three bonus children, Cortez and Kebba Lockridge of Ellenwood, GA, Greedy Ballentine of Roosevelt, New York, and Tee Ballentine of Paducah, KY; his beloved grandchildren that he cherished deeply and gave his all to them with no questions; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation 3pm-7pm Thursday, January 1, 2026 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Funeral 11am Friday, January 2, 2026 at Howard Chapel Missionary Baptist Church 1715 E. Market Street, New Albany, Indiana. Private burial 12:15 Saturday, January 3, 2026 Green Meadows Cemetery.

Willie “Bill” T. Lacy, Jr. was born on January 27, 1956, in New Albany, Indiana, to Willie T. Lacy, Sr. and Mildred L. (Orndorff) Lacy. He transitioned from this life on December 26, 2025, just days after the passing of his beloved mother.

Willie was baptized at Howard Chapel Baptist Church in New Albany, Indiana, and attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Louisville, Kentucky, where he played trumpet in the marching band. From an early age, he displayed a natural gift for drawing and painting, possessing a strong artistic ability that remained with him throughout his life. He later attended Lincoln University in St. Louis, Missouri, for a short time. Although he did not graduate, the experience contributed to his growth and independence during his early adult years.

A man of strong faith, Willie was later ordained as a deacon at New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Kentucky. In March 2016, he joined Canaan Christian Church in Louisville, where he was faithful in his attendance and actively participated in the Connection Group Bible Study, the Group of John, and regular worship services. He was a devoted supporter of Canaan Christian Church and held deep love and respect for his pastor, Dr. Walter Malone Jr., and First Lady, Sandra Malone.

Willie was a true family man who found his greatest joy in bringing people together. He deeply loved his children, grandchildren, and extended family and especially enjoyed spending time with his siblings and cousins. He was known for hosting and helping organize a long-running annual family picnic that became a cherished tradition for generations. He loved to barbecue, take family road trips, go swimming, and cheer on the Louisville Cardinals basketball team. He also enjoyed going out to eat on dinner dates and getting dressed up for elegant, exclusive dance nights with his wife, Vette Lacy (Porter). Willie took pride in his appearance and in his Cadillacs, which he loved driving and keeping spotless. He also treasured family visits to Cincinnati, Ohio, to see his grandmother Alene, whom he affectionately called “Abigail.”

Willie began cutting hair at an early age, a skill that grew into a true craft. He went on to become a talented barber and cosmetologist for more than 15 years, working at Ms. Martin’s Hair Salon and later at Flora’s Beauty Emporium. He later built a long and respected career in the transportation industry, driving 18-wheelers across the country. In his early years, he was often gone for days at a time, logging countless miles and earning the nickname “Wild Bill.” He retired in 2025 from Product Distribution Company, a subsidiary of GE Appliances, after more than 30 years in the trucking industry.

Willie was united in marriage three times. In 1979, he married Carol (Bailey) Morrison, through whom he became a loving father figure to Antwan Bailey, and later welcomed his son, Willie T. Lacy III. In 1986, he married Leslie (Williams) Lacy, and together they raised their children in the same household, including Willie T. Lacy III, Zakiya Lacy, and their son, Dwight Lacy. In 2015, he married his devoted wife, Vette Lacy (Porter), and through that union expanded his family to include Paige Porter-Bradley, Shane Porter-Bradley, and Kelley Porter-Bradley.

Willie T. Lacy, Jr. was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mildred Lacy; his brother, Dwight Andrew Carr; his sister, Yvonne Evans (Lacy); and his mother-in-law, Anna B. Groves.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Vette Lacy; his father, Willie T. Lacy, Sr.; his children, Antwan Bailey, Willie “Bill” Lacy III (Alicia), Zakiya Lacy, Dwight Lacy, Paige, Shane, and Kelley; his brother, Ricky Lacy; his sister, Carolyn Davis; his grandchildren, Mekiya Green, Elijah Simms, Jaida Lacy, Zoe Johnson, Aris Lacy, and Dillion Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and co-workers who loved him dearly.

Visitation 10-12 Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Greater Salem Baptist Church 1009 W Chestnut. Funeral to follow at 12pm.

David Wayne Montgomery was born August 13, 1957, in Louisville, Kentucky to proud parents, Ocia Bryant Montgomery and Rudolph Montgomery.

At an early age, David began his Christian journey by giving his life to Christ at Greater Salem Baptist Church, where his mother served as the Minister of Music for 30 years.

David was a member of various singing groups around the city, as well as being an integral member of the Greater Salem Mass Choir. He also served as a Deacon at his church for many years. David was educated in the Jefferson County Public Schools and was a 1975 graduate from Shawnee High School. He continued his educational goals and received his Associate Degree from Phoenix University, and later received his Bachelor's and Master Degrees in Theology from Campbellsville University.

Being a man of many values, he expressed his love for family, had steadfast faith, provided service to others, and had the whole armor of trust and honesty in his daily demeanor. Through David's 68 years on this earth, he was known for his sense of humor, and his undeniable devotion to Christ. October 19, 1935 - December 22, 2025

Mildred Louise Lacy, 90, of Louisville transitioned on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Baptist Health Hospital.

Visitation 3pm - 7pm Thursday, January 1, 2026 at W. T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road.

Funeral 11am Friday, January 2, 2026 at Howard Chapel Missionary Baptist Church 1715 E. Market Street, New Albany, Indiana.
Private Burial 11am Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Evergreen Cemetery.

On October 19, 1935, in Logan County, Kentucky, Mildred Louise Orndorff Lacy, was born to Alene (Kennedy) Orndorff and Ben Zedie Orndorff. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended State Street High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Mildred married Zack Carr and to that union her eldest son, Dwight Andrew, was born. She later met and married the “love of her life” and lifelong companion Willie Thornton Lacy of Russellville, Kentucky, and on December 18, 2025, together they celebrated 71 years of marriage. They moved to Louisville, where their family grew as they built their lives together. She started her career in nursing; however, her focus was always God and family first. She chose to forego a career and elected to become a full-time homemaker to serve the needs of her family.

Mildred was a strong advocate for equality, education, wellness, and health. She was a force to reckon with as she championed support services for her son, Ricky and other Prader-Willi individuals. She and Willie spear headed the inception and organization of Kentucky-Ana Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (PWSA). Led by God, together with the support of their families, the National PWSA organization and a committed group of parents they were able to improve how services in education, mental health and medicine for special needs individuals were viewed and how the services were delivered. Their efforts culminated in the development of a world-wide PWSA organization that included parents, educators, scientific researchers, medical professionals, social services advocates, and government agencies. Mildred held several executive positions, serving as President for the PWSA Kentucky-Ana. She served on the Board of Directors for the national and international PWSA organizations, positioning her as the sole representative for the United States in PWSA conferences in Italy, Germany and Norway. She served in many positions within the organizations locally, nationally and internationally. Mildred was recognized throughout the organization for her commitment and dedication to individuals and families living with Prader-Willi Syndrome.

Mildred served as a life-long member of Howard Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in New Albany, IN. She was respected and loved deeply by her fellow worshippers. She was fondly known as “Mother Lacy” and she mentored young women in her family and the church congregation.
Mildred enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, and traveling…and boy, did she every travel! Family vacations were always a priority, reaching every corner of the country from Niagara Falls to Hawaii, and everything in between. She especially loved the “Rocky Mountains of Colorado” and made a point to vacation there every chance she got!

On December 22, 2025, Mildred Louise Lacy transitioned to her eternal resting place, and she was preceded in death by her parents, Alene and Ben Zedie Orndorff, her son Dwight Andrew Carr, her daughter Yvonne Evans (Lacy) and grandson, Aaron Woodard Jr., and Julian Woodard.

Mildred leaves to cherish her memory; her devoted and loving husband, Willie; her two sons Willie “Bill” Lacy Jr. (Vette) and Ricky Lacy; step-daughter Carolyn Davis; her grandchildren Reginald Woodard, Antwan Bailey, Lisa Smith (Wesley), William “Burl” Williamson (Kendra), Ernest “Nordy” Williamson (Jami), Rolynne France (Johnny),Willie “Bill” Lacy III (Alicia), Zakiya Lacy, and Dwight Lacy; daughter-in-law Deborah Carr, son-in-law Donald Evans; 21 great grand-children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

June 17, 1932 -December 9, 2025

Betty May Harbin Reese, 93, of Louisville transitioned on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at University Hospital.

Visitation 11:00am - 12:30pm Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road. Reflections to follow from 12:30pm - 1:00pm.

Betty May Harbin Reese was born June 17, 1932, to proud parents Pemmon and Lillian Prather Harbin. She was one of five children (two girls and three boys), with Betty being the third child born to this union. She was raised in what was then called "Parkland" area on Grand Avenue.
At a young age, Betty was baptized on January 18, 1942 at her family church, First Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, under the Pastorate of Rev. R. J. Miller.

Betty was educated in the Louisville Public School System and graduated from Central High School. She later pursued further education in the Nursing field and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her employment history began at the old General Hospital (now University of Louisville Hospital). Her long span of employment at the University of Louisville Hospital continued until her retirement at 62 years old. Those were very good years spent in her career of Nursing, which was her passion.

Betty's husband, Henry Reese, Sr., was the love of her life. They were married and raised three children, Majorie, Sandra, and Henry, Jr. Unfortunately, her husband was deceased many years before her "Homegoing".

As the saying goes, "No green grass was growing under Betty's feet." After retirement, she began extensive traveling with family and friends. If someone said "go", Betty's bags were packed, and they were sitting by the front door. She continued being active in her church and enjoyed outings with the Seasoned Senior Citizens. She was involved in the church's activities in many areas - she sang in the Senior Choir, was President of the Seasoned Senior Citizens group, worked in the church Culinary Ministry, was a member of the Kings Daughters Sunday School Class, was the overseer of the Feast of Love (a community outreach for the church), and participated in many more activities in the church. She continued being an active church member, and a supporter of activities, until her health began to decline. But not once, did anyone hear Betty complain. Even when she was not feeling her best on any given day, and was asked how did she feel, her continuous response (in a soft voice) would be "I shall not complain", and she definitely did not.

Betty's love for her siblings was the most profound expression of love that there was. Her siblings, Charles, Doris, Roscoe and Curtis (later called the "Clampetts") were a loving close knit family. They were supportive of each other, and if one hurt, they all could feel the hurt. Everyone witnessed the love between them. Now, to explain the "Clampetts". They were given this name because whenever they traveled together (and that was very often), they packed huge lunches, had many sacks of snacks, beverages galore, and they all crammed into one van together, merrily going down the road to their planned destination (just like the old sitcom "The Clampetts). So, that's how they got the name.

With heavy hearts and overwhelming sadness, Betty May Harbin Reese, transitioned to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughters, Majorie Reese Davis and Sandra Lynne Mason; and one son, Henry Lee Reese, Jr. (Francine); grandchildren, Michael Mason, Jr., Kamaria Davis, Deon Reese, Jumaane Davis, Rahsaan Davis, Henry Reese, III (Shateasha), Chadwick Mason, and Cherice Bonmon (Chris); twenty two great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and an abundance of friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Pemmon and Lillian Harbin; husband, Henry Reese, Sr.; sister, Doris Harbin Shumake; brothers, Curtis Harbin, Sr., Charles Harbin, Sr., and Roscoe Harbin, Sr.

Momma, Aunt Betty, Granny, Auntie - You will be dearly missed!
You were loved, are loved, and forever will be loved!

A memorial service will be held to honor his life and legacy on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at W.T. Shumake & Daughters Funeral Home 3815 Newburg Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218

He later received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy. He continued to serve his country by enlisting into the United States Reserves after his years in the Navy.

Bobby was known and recognized for his hard work and dedication throughout Harrison County. He was blessed to be given the gift of serving others through his years in the military and in his home town.

Bobby enjoyed the simple things of life like fishing and turtling. These were activities that were relaxing for him. He was also known for his love of walking the streets of Cynthiana, experiencing the joy of being in God's nature, and as frequently expressed, "smelling the roses". Although Robert chose to often be alone to think and have "me" time, he nevertheless felt the love of everyone that was around him.

July 19, 1939 - December 8, 2025

Tommie Lee Montgomery, Sr. age 86, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on December 8th, 2025.

Visitation 9-11 Monday, December 15, 2025 at Community Missionary Baptist Church 4909 E. Indian Trail. Funeral to follow at 11am. Burial Calvary Cemetery.

Born on July 19th, 1939, in Eastaboga, Alabama, Tommie Lee was the son of Lee Grant Montgomery and Savannah Montgomery. He grew up in Eastaboga and proudly earned his GED in 1963.

On July 5th, 1958, Tommie Lee married the love of his life, Joyce Montgomery, and together they shared sixty-two years of devotion, partnership, and unwavering companionship. He worked as a forklift operator at Ford Motor Company for thirty years, where he was known for his strong work ethic, his dependability, and his dedication to providing for his family. A natural handyman and lifelong family man, Tommie Lee built a legacy rooted in hard work, generosity, and love.

At an early age, Tommie Lee joined Community Missionary Baptist Church, where he began singing in the choir. He had a lifelong love of gospel music and continued singing with joy throughout his life.

After moving to Louisville, Tommie Lee began a concrete business, pouring foundations and driveways that, much like his legacy, will stand the test of time. Working alongside the Posey family, he helped shape many neighborhoods throughout Louisville—particularly in the Newburg community—at a time when seeing Alabama men build a thriving concrete business was truly remarkable.

Outside of his career, Tommie Lee enjoyed gardening, cutting grass, going to bingo, eating ice
cream, cheering on the University of Louisville Cardinals, cooking, and especially
barbecuing—often without revealing what kind of meat he was serving, all while using his secret
barbeque sauce. He cherished time spent with his family and was known for his humor, his
straightforward nature, his understanding and forgiving spirit, his kindness, and the iconic hats
he wore. A pillar of his community, he loved working hard—and he loved the smell of money.

Tommie Lee was a strong figure in his family, always offering shelter, support, and words of wisdom in times of need. He found joy in being with his children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren, bringing people together through food and countless cookouts. His
great-grandchildren adored him for the sweets he always kept around the house. He raised his family with a foundation rooted in faith and ensured their love for the Lord. Building a strong,
close-knit family was his greatest legacy.

Tommie Lee is survived by his children: Tommie Lee (Teaunda) Montgomery, Jr., Clyde Montgomery, Patricia Jackson, Tonya Montgomery, Dr. Delisa (late Rev. James) Brooks, and Oliver (Rolanda) Montgomery; his grandchildren Lillian, Clyde, Shancorice, Erica, Di’Shon, Christopher, Canayec’ya, Neda’Lair, Chelsea, Sherica, Jarica, Neal Jr., Oliver Jr., Nautica, Olivia, Orionna, Rameisha, Deja’Nae, Ondrea, James Jr., Serenity, Jaxon, and Tonda; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Roosevelt Montgomery, Arthur Montgomery, Charles Freeman, Gregory Freeman, Fannie Palmer, Helen Hassell, Sarah Ann Henderson, Catherine Johnson, Janice Freeman, Mary Lois Thomas; three brother
in-laws, one sister-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Montgomery; his daughter, Prudence Montgomery; his granddaughter, Tonisha Montgomery; and his grandson, Surrender Montgomery.

July 22, 1949 - December 6, 2025

Michael Edward Staples, 76, of Goshen transitioned on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025 from 2:30 - 4:00. Memorial Service will begin at 4:00 at W.T. Shumake and Daughters 3815 Newburg Road Louisville, Kentucky 40218

If you ever spotted a man grinning beside a shiny Mopar, you likely met Michael Edward Staples-better known as Mike, or to those who loved him most, Mr. Mike.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan blessing his parents William Edward and Frances Staples as their only son. At an early age Michael became a confirmed Episcopalian and attended St. Mary's Episcopal Church. After attending Central High School (Detroit), he proudly served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam before cruising into Louisville in 1979, where he worked as a mechanical engineer for TARC until retiring in 2004. Cars were his lifelong passion-from tinkering as a teen to drag racing at 17-and his prized 1970 Cuda AAR was the true love of his garage.

When he wasn't working, you could bet he was bowling, building something with his hands, or inventing a clever way to fix something that the rest of us probably would've replaced.

In 2019, Mike found his soulmate, Toni, gaining a beautiful family who adored him as "Mr. Mike." Together they enjoyed car shows, trophies, and a tight-knit community that quickly became family.

Known for his bright smile and friendly spirit, Mike never met a stranger. He loved people-and they loved him right back.

Mike's earthly ride may have crossed the finish line, but his engine will keep revving in the hearts of all who knew him.
Keep the engines running, Mr. Mike.
He will be remembered by Toni, the love of his life; his daughters, Lindsey Stewart (Alejandro) and Lydia Murphy (Reinaldo}; and his sister, Kathy,
Paris (Clarence Dawson). He is also survived by his nephew, Brandon Paris, his grandchildren Johanna, Isaiah, Joshua, Sebastian, and Zachariah, his great-nephews Gabriel, Noah, Lincoln and a host of dear relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
