Hi there, old friends! I'm in the market for a pre-loved iPad I can use to model AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) for "my" telehealth public school students who have trouble accessing their oral speech. It just has to be iOS 11 or later to run the AAC app my new district seems to like. Anybody have an old iPad I can buy or borrow, or know anybody who does?

If anyone tells you otherwise, they're actually telling you that they don't know much about teaching AAC!⁣

Image description:
Bitmoji of white woman with brown hair yelling into a megaphone. Speak bubble reads: There are no prerequisites for AAC!
Text reads: They don't need to match pictures, discriminate pictures, do receptive ID, go through all the stages of PECS, be able to point, be a certain age, prove cognitive abilities, be primarily non-speaking or be ready in any way. P.S. If anyone tells you otherwise, they're actually telling you that they don't know much about teaching AAC!

Hello!

Well Said CT&E is a one-woman speech therapy practice born of my desire to serve Louisville families the way I think y’all deserve to be served. Communication skills are, in my opinion, the most magical and important underpinnings of the whole human experience. I take my role as a speech therapist seriously, because I know that gaps in speech, language, or social skills can make life SO much more challenging, for both children and their people, both now and in the future. I use a “warm-fuzzy-ooey-gooey,” fun, and evidence-based approach to help children and teens transform weaknesses into skills.

If you have noticed yourself worrying over your child’s word count, or speech pronunciation, or stuttering, or behavior, or play skills, or academics, please reach out to me. I want to help, either directly or by connecting your family with community resources. Early intervention is always better, and knowledge is always power.
