“Contrary to popular opinion, quitting is for winners.
Knowing when to quit, change direction, leave a toxic situation, demand more from life, give up on something that wasn’t working and move on, is a very important skill that people who win at life all seem to have.”
- Steven Bartlett
Healthy Point Acupuncture will be closing its physical location permanently at the end of June.
I’ve been thinking for a long time about what I want to say in this post. No amount of planning will prevent the muddling through it, so here goes.
I never wanted to open my own practice. I went through acupuncture school and graduated with the intention of working for someone else, so that I could focus my energy on doing the actual thing, rather than splitting focus between healing and businessing. I opened Healthy Point Acupuncture out of necessity, not out of want or any sort of entrepreneurial spirit.
The time is right. The end of June will mark exactly 5 years since opening, and I’ll be in a position where I can smoothly transition back into just working for someone else that handles all of the parts of business that I don’t want to do.
I think it’s important to remember that a business closing doesn’t necessarily mean it was a failure. And that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to work for someone else.
I can help (and already have helped) more people working for UK in Lexington than I had the capacity to help working for myself. When I took the job, I wasn’t sure that it would work out. I wasn’t ready to just jump in and let go of what I’d built these last five years. But now I am, and the timing couldn’t have been more… right.
Every single one of you has made such a positive impact in my life, both as a person and as a practitioner. I’m so grateful that you all trusted me with your healthcare, and I will forever be so humbled at how you, as patients, have helped me grow as a practitioner. I couldn’t have done any of this without you.
As I said through the height of the pandemic:
Without you, we cannot be.
With so much gratitude for the past and excitement for the future,
Courtney Lantz, Dipl.Ac, L.Ac
