HCV can lead to liver damage, liver failure, liver cancer, or even death.

Symptoms aren’t a great indicator of having an HCV infection, because not everyone with the virus has symptoms or they may develop long after being exposed and infected with HCV. Fatigue, nausea, and abdominal pain are some of the most common symptoms.

It is important to discuss any symptoms or HCV exposure with your doctor. If you have never been tested for HCV, the CDC recommends you do at least once in your lifetime!

Treatment, education, prevention and elimination starts with talking about Hepatitis C!

The CDC recommends every individual in the United States be tested for Hep C at least once in their lifetime.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) harms the liver over time and disease progression is unpredictable. Getting tested is the first step to a HCV cure!

Hepatitis B (HBV) is a liver disease that can last a few weeks to months or can become a lifelong, chronic illness. HBV is spread through contact with an infected person's blood or other bodily fluids. The virus can lead to liver damage, liver failure, or cancer.

There is a vaccine to prevent HBV and medications can be used to suppress the virus to an undetectable level!

Talk to your healthcare provider about screening if you feel you could’ve been exposed to HBV through blood or unprotected s*x. Your provider can even use lab tests to make sure you are protected with the HBV vaccine!

If you or someone you love has HBV, we can help. For in office or telehealth appointments in Kentucky, call (502) 894-9950!

The Cecil Specialty Clinic focuses on education as an important part of our care. Part of that effort is dispelling myths! Our goal is stop the spread of misinformation about Hepatitis C.

Hepatitis C (HCV) comes from blood to blood exposure with someone currently infected with HCV. Exposures can happen in many ways; a few risks include sharing equipment for drug use such as needles, tattoos or piercings, nail clippers, razors, or blood transfusions that happened before 1992.

HCV can be cured with modern anti-virals in most infected individuals. Unfortunately, there is no vaccine for HCV and you can be re-infected if exposed to the virus through blood again.

HCV affects each individual differently. Disease progression is unpredictable. If left untreated, HCV can cause liver disease and cancer.

✨Hepatitis is preventable!✨

There are vaccines for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B.

There is no vaccine for Hepatitis C, so it’s important to know the risk factors, screen, and treat, if needed. Thankfully, there are really effective treatments that cure Hep C in thousands of patients every year!

Over the years, our staff and patients have grown to love what our telemedicine program has to offer! Telehealth appointments can be done using a smart phone or a computer (with both a camera and a microphone).

Our visits can be done on a break at work, from home, in between groups - you name it, we’ve worked around it!

U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable)

Studies show that people living with HIV who maintain an undetectable viral load through daily antiretroviral therapy (ART) have zero risk of transmitting HIV to their s*xual partner(s)!
