Expecting a baby? Expect the best! Shop for Support at Doulapalooza 2018, Saturday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy meeting Louisville and Southern Indiana professionals for conversation and information on pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding, education, and activism
Even though this event is in its 14th year, we want to be clear as to the definition of a doula:
- A trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible. -
This annual maternity fair and celebration of our local birth, wellness, and advocacy community is free, family-friendly, and open to all.
If you are a business, organization, or practitioner and would like to participate as a vendor, info on price and criteria is available by contacting Cindy Lamb at cooldoula@aol.com or 502.794.8237.
Doulapalooza is not only an opportunity for area professionals to network in a relaxed atmosphere but an annual fundraiser for local organizations whose outreach to women in their childbearing years is much needed and appreciated. This year's recipient is the Louisville Doula Project. (Kentucky Refugee Ministries 2016, Kentucky Coalition for Home Birth 2017.)
This event is located on the lawn alongside the Douglass Loop Farmer's Market on the property of Douglass Blvd. Christian Church. The address is 2005 Douglass Blvd. @ Bardstown Rd. in the Highlands.
The Douglass Loop Farmers Market is a Saturday tradition for Louisville and a natural blend for Doulapalooza with children’s activities, crafts, live music, and the local support of growers, artists, fresh produce and prepared foods.
There is free parking in the church lot as well as along Douglass and Woodford Blvds, two playgrounds, picnic tables, and restrooms. Feel free to bring chairs or a picnic blanket for the shady lawn.
We look forward to an enjoyable and empowering morning and afternoon.
