Presidents' Day is about more than remembering names in history books. It’s also a moment to think about people who are able to think clearly, connect with each other, and make decisions from something other than pure burnout or fear: Your mental health is part of that.

This Presidents' Day, here’s your reminder: a healthy country includes cared-for minds, including yours. 🤲

Valentine’s Day can crank up the pressure: how you look, what you wear, what you’re doing, who you’re with. 💙

If your brain is loud with:
👉 I should look different by now.
👉 I need to earn this meal.
👉 If I don’t show up perfectly, I’m not lovable.

you’re not the only one.

At Be Well Kentucky, we work with eating disorders, OCD, anxiety, trauma, and more. We see, up close, how perfectionism and body pressure can steal the joy from days that were never meant to be a test.

Today is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a celebration and reminder of their incredible dedication to scientific research.

Many of the therapies we rely on at Be Well Kentucky exist because women scientists designed studies, gathered data, challenged old beliefs, and pushed through bias to move the field forward.

Today, we’re especially grateful for:

💙 The women who advanced care for: Anxiety, OCD, trauma, eating disorders, and depression
💙 The girls and young women in Kentucky who are curious about science, psychology, or medicine
💙 The teachers, mentors, and families who help them get there

If you know a woman or girl in science, tag them and send this as a “thank you” for what they’re building for all of us.

After something traumatic happens, it’s common to want to avoid reminders like places, people, dates, memories.Prolonged Exposure (PE) is a structured, evidence-based therapy for PTSD that helps people:

• Understand how trauma affects the brain and body
• Build skills to stay grounded
• Gradually face memories and situations they’ve been avoiding with support, at a planned pace

If you’ve been wondering what “exposure therapy” actually looks like for trauma, you deserve clear information and a chance to ask questions.

Positive affirmations don’t replace evidence-based care, but they can change how you walk through it. These are gentle reminders for your treatment journey at Be Well Kentucky:

🤲 that you’re not “too much” or “not sick enough” for real help,
🤲 that progress doesn’t have to be perfect to be real,
🤲 and that you’re allowed to ask questions, take up space, and build a team around you.

Our work together is grounded in research-backed treatments for OCD, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and trauma, and also in the belief that you are more than your symptoms or diagnosis.

This February, we honor Black History Month by paying attention not only to the past, but to the present realities of Black mental health in Kentucky. Joy, grief, creativity, faith, and resistance all live alongside real experiences of stress, loss, and inequity.

At Be Well Kentucky, we believe that honoring Black history means taking mental health seriously today and every day: listening without defensiveness, naming barriers without blaming individuals, and offering evidence-based care that respects culture, identity, and lived experience.

This month and every month, we’re working toward a future where access to care, safety in care, and outcomes of care are for all!🖤

Do I need online? Should I try a group? Is regular 1:1 therapy enough? You don’t have to have this figured out before you start.

At Be Well Kentucky, we offer:

🤲 Online sessions across Kentucky
🤲 Individual therapy for focused, 1:1 work
🤲 Group therapy to build skills and connection with others

Part of our job is helping you decide which format (or mix) makes sense for what you’re facing right now. That answer can change over time and that’s okay.💙

Not everyone feels comfortable with or ready for one-to-one therapy, and that’s okay. For some people, healing feels easier alongside others who get it. That’s where support groups can help.

At Be Well Kentucky, our groups are designed to:

🫶 Lessen shame and isolation
🫶Create “me too” moments and shared language
🫶Offer skills and support that complement individual therapy

You don’t have to talk the whole time, have the right words or be further along in recovery to belong in the room. Showing up is enough.

If group support sounds like it might fit you or a friend, visit our group therapy page: https://bewellkentucky.com/treatments/group-therapy/ to learn about current offerings. 💙

Nutrition support is not about “perfect eating” especially in eating disorder recovery.

For many people with eating disorders, food is tangled up with fear, rules and shame. A registered dietitian’s role isn’t to judge your plate, but to help you relearn safety, consistency and enoughness with food working alongside your therapist as part of the same treatment team. You don’t need to have it all figured out before you receive that support.

When you’re ready to learn more, feel free to visit https://bewellkentucky.com/eating-disorders/ and see how nutrition support can fit into your recovery.💙

"I’m so OCD” usually isn’t talking about OCD at all. Real Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is more than liking things tidy or “just so.” It often includes:

👉Intrusive, unwanted thoughts that feel scary, uncomfortable or “wrong”
👉Compulsions (repeated behaviors or mental rituals) done to try to feel safer or less anxious
👉A lot of time and energy spent fighting with your own mind

At Be Well Kentucky, we use ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) and CBT evidence-based treatments that are specifically designed to help people with OCD.

Not knowing what will happen is one of the biggest reasons people delay starting therapy.

That first call or first session can bring up a lot worry about being judged, fear of “saying it wrong,” or not knowing how much to share. At Be Well Kentucky, we expect those nerves. Your therapist will slow things down, explain what they’re doing and check in with you as you go. You don’t have to have the perfect words or a fully formed story for your experience to matter. Showing up exactly as you are is enough.

Head to 👉 https://bewellkentucky.com/contact-us/ to connect with our team.

If you’ve ever felt rushed, dismissed or overwhelmed in therapy, you’re not alone.

At Be Well Kentucky, trauma-informed, evidence-based care means we pay attention to both what happened to you and what the research shows actually helps. The way care is delivered matters just as much as the diagnosis.

Trauma-informed care looks like:

🫶 Moving at your pace, not a timeline on paper
🫶 Offering choices and explaining what we’re doing and why
🫶 Watching for signs of overwhelm and adjusting together
