Today we successfully concluded the annual Mental Health of East Tennessee’s Psychiatric Symposium. The past two days have been truly exceptional. Numerous attendees and vendors offering resources from acute care and residential to private practices and IOP/PHP programs were in attendance. Many distinguished presenters from around the country provided training for professionals to earn their required hours while enhancing care for their patients. This event is always a highlight of the year for mental health providers in Knoxville and throughout the state. We extend our gratitude to Ben Harrington for organizing another outstanding Symposium. We were honored to be one of the sponsors of this exceptional event.

Our activity department provides our children with numerous creative pursuits. These are “thankful wreaths” that some of them have completed. They thoroughly enjoy participating in projects of this nature. It affords them the opportunity to engage in activities similar to their peers and have a positive experience while reflecting on the things for which they are grateful. Each wreath is truly beautiful, just like our children.

This past Thursday and Friday, VBH held its annual leadership retreat in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We were honored to have Dr. Mike Kenny from Acadia corporate join us to help us leverage our strengths as a team. The retreat featured leadership presentations, activity therapy, various personality tests, and opportunities to connect with colleagues over good food. A surprise visit from our Residential Youth Council provided uplifting recommendations on how we can become exceptional staff members. One of the most poignant moments was watching testimonials from current and past patients, who shared how our work has made a tangible impact on their lives. We reviewed our accomplishments in 2025 thus far and identified challenges to overcome, with the goal of not only being good leaders but also becoming great ones. We extend our gratitude to all staff members who participated and contributed to the success of this year's retreat.
