When was the last time you checked in on your mental health?

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to remind you that it’s okay to slow down, ask for support, and prioritize how you’re feeling. Mental healthcare looks different for everyone, and even small steps—like reaching out to someone you trust—can make a meaningful difference. You’re not alone, and help is always available.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we are especially proud of the incredible team that makes up Village Academy. Our department includes 15 dedicated employees ranging from Mr. Hall, who has faithfully served students for over 40 years, to our newest teacher, Mr. Brown, who recently joined our team less than a month ago. Every other member of our department has remained with us for at least a full school year — something we are incredibly proud of in a field that can often experience high turnover.

Over the past year, our team has worked tirelessly to create meaningful positive change across our campus. Together, we have:
• Maintained a fully staffed department
• Updated and refreshed classrooms and administrative spaces
• Improved school schedules, structure, and daily routines
• Transitioned to a more education-industry-friendly school calendar to better support staff wellness and retention
• Implemented a campus-wide positive behavior support and incentive system, “The Village Way”
• Increased consistency and collaboration across education, residential, and support teams
• Reduced restraints and behavioral crises through proactive relationship-building and structured support systems
• Strengthened classroom expectations, routines, and student engagement
• Continued to prioritize trauma-informed care, safety, consistency, and positive relationships for the students we serve

Most importantly, this team continues to show up every single day for students with patience, compassion, flexibility, humor, and heart. The work is not always easy, but this group continues to push forward together to create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment for our youth.

To our Village Academy staff — thank you for everything you do. You are appreciated more than words can express. 🍎❤️

Progress isn’t always obvious. Sometimes it’s showing up, trying again, or taking a small step forward. Challenges are part of growth, not a reason to stop. Every effort matters, even when it feels unseen. Keep going. Your progress matters.
