Kentucky Voices for Health

Kentucky Voices for Health A coalition of more than 250 organizations and individuals working to build a healthier Kentucky.

Who We Are:
KVH has been a respected voice of consumer advocates and a catalyst in health policy decision-making since 2007. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and nonpartisan coalition, we bring together individuals, advocates, community organizations, state agencies, and policymakers to address the underlying causes of poor health by connecting Kentuckians with opportunities to make change through policy

advocacy. What We Do:
At Kentucky Voices for Health, we believe that every Kentuckian should have the opportunity to live a healthy life and contribute to the health of their communities.

To achieve our vision of a healthier Kentucky, we are leading a coalition of concerned Kentuckians from across the Commonwealth to ensure that every individual and community has a voice in the local, state and national decisions that affect their health. On July 14, 2025 Kentucky health officials confirmed one case of measles in Jefferson County. This case was identified in an adolescent who recently traveled internationally. Health officials are working to identify people who may have been exposed while contagious. This new case appears to be unrelated to the recent measles outbreak in Woodford and Fayette Counties.
Measles is a highly contagious respiratory virus that can cause serious health complications, especially in young children. Vaccination is the best protection against measles. Immunization against measles comes through the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine. This is the 13th case of measles in Kentucky in 2025. The number of measles cases in the United States is now the highest it has been since 1992. These cases occur in the midst of global outbreaks of measles, including in Mexico and Canada. The vast majority of adults with Medicaid are working, most work full-time. So why did states that tried work reporting requirements see such massive coverage losses? Because the red tape punishes people who should qualify. Eligibility isn’t the issue... bureaucracy is.
